Lakers say Kobe Bryant is suspected to have torn his left Achilles

Featured Replies

Kobe said he'll be back for the season opener. I'm not going to doubt him. Not only is it hard to find anyone in history who has worked harder at taking care of their body but he also has the means to get any kind of crazy experimental treatment done as well. I won't doubt him until the season opener comes and he isn't playing. I'll go ahead and list him as questionable/game-time decision.

I'll believe he's back before the season opener when I see it. I would never doubt Kobe and coming back off injuries but we are talking about a torn achilles here.

Is that something personal for you because you like him better or do you think it will elevate his status above Jordan in some way?

Personal because I like him better. Kobe will never be viewed as better than MJ regardless of what he does.

No doubt. We're also talking about a dude who is borderline maniacal when it comes to pain threshold and proving people wrong. I'm the exact opposite as you. Because Kobe and the Lakers trainer said he'll be ready for the opener I'll believe he will be in the starting lineup.

This is awesome.

I saw that earlier and that is great. I can't imagine getting up and shooting two FTs after that. That is hardcore.

I didn't read the whole thread but I will say as a Pro Hoops fan this stinks. Of course I hate to see anyone ever get injured but I was really looking forward to the Lakers in the playoffs. Would it have been one and done or???

If the Lakers beat the Rockets they are in the playoffs. They are one game ahead of Utah and hold their own fate. They should still make the playoffs.

I think they are one and done in the playoffs regardless of whether they had Kobe or not.

Illegal or banned you mean?

No. He went to Germany to get the platlet rich therapy done and to me that is above and beyond to get treatment. I'm not sure if it is performed in America. I could see him doing something similar for his Achilles.

It was not performed in America.

Crazy as it may sound, I believed if Kobe had been healthy they would have taken OKC to the wire in the 1st round, knocked them out and made a run to the finals. Now they will lose in 4 or 5 games.

It would be much more fun with Kobe but I am intrigued to see how D12 carries the team. Mentally I expect them to lose. I just want to see what kind of fight they have in themselves without Kobe and against OKC.

I do expect them to beat Houston and get the 8 seed. 5 game winning streak going into the playoffs. Needed to go at least 4-1 over the last 5 games to have a chance for the spot and they determine their own fate. I just knew they wouldn't make it. Now it's theirs to lose.

Damn....I'm getting excited over an 8 seed.......

Good to hear, I'm very very slowly becoming a Kobe fan...
