Home Field Advantage for the World Series

This was brought up in another thread and I wanted to discuss it more. Obviously, the winner of the all-star game currently determines home field advantage for the World Series. What do you think should determine home field advantage for the WS?

With schedule not being balanced total wins may not be fair. Teams now play about half of their games against division foes, so if your in a weak division you would have a total wins advantage over a team from a very competitive division.

 

That said I would prefer that over the All-Star game solution.

That's what I was thinking. Best overall record isn't fair to traditionally strong divisions.

I'm for either rotating it or giving it to the league with the best interleague record. I think the interleague record is even more relevant now that there is an interleague series every day.

Rotate it or have the previous winner of the WS have home field.

 

The reasons for not giving it to best record is that they would not know which city would be hosting up until the last game of the LCS so they would not have enough time to get everything ready plus hotels. I have read this a few years ago.
