Home Field Advantage for the World Series

Featured Replies

Why so? Just because it hasn't been done? All-Star Game is a better way? Has Superbowl or any other Neutral site event suffered due to being at a neutral site?

I'm not saying this is the Answer but don't just call the idea dumb with giving some reasoning behind

it.

Is the Super Bowl a best of 7? Fans can afford to travel for one game. No way attendance is going to be better at a neutral site for 4-7 games that it would be at the home ballparks.

You don't think corporate America would scoop up those tickets just like they do for the SB?

If attendance is the only issue with this and not fairness of competition then that's as lame as MLB saying they need more time to book rooms at host cities.

It's a slap in the face to the fans that have supported your team for 162 games. Thanks for being our fans, now that we've reached the World Series we're going to play the games 2,000 miles away. Great way to keep the fans coming back next year.

I understand what your saying. If they want to thank their fans don't jack up the prices for WS tix!

That's the dumbest proposal I've read.

I agree

While I think corporate America would scoop up the tickets like they do not for a lot of teams, MLB would be at a high risk of having stadiums half full for a World Series game. Not a good look.

I like the idea of awarding it to the league with the best interleague record. I get the unbalanced scheduling part of interleague play; but, maybe that is balanced out by teams that are eliminated from contention not giving full effort or have players shut down later in the season. Teams that are locks for the playoffs would be forced (maybe) to play all their guys late season when maybe before they would be resting.

I also agree that in baseball home field seems to be the least important as in other sports.
