How arrogant are you? I was not referring to you. If you paid closer attention you would have seen that my remark was to truecru.

Just wondering: If you're so unhappy with how the St. Henry administration is dealing with athletics, then why continue to send your kid there?

 

Options are limited in NKy for a quality Catholic education and St Henry does a good job academically. They also do a good job athletically in spots. It's the "spots" that bug me. They could be so much more in everything yet they seem to pick their spots and nurture their bell cows and are content to just "get by" on others. It's just so frustrating to me as a paying parent to want more yet the administration doesn't seem to feel the same way. I see it as our right as tuition paying parents to demand "the best"- and if we demand it long enough and loud enough they just might listen. If nothing else they will know that we (the parents) take it seriously, even if they do not.

I will be watching intently on how this all plays out. If they do their due diligence and get a solid coach with a proven track record I will be pleasantly surprised and shut my mouth. But not even having the job posted in the KHSAA website is a dubious start to the process.

I definitely agree that if you are paying for your child to attend a school then you should be able to demand the best. I agree 100% with that because any school wants their programs to be at the top level. I just wish everyone would give this coaching change a chance. If the program doesn't exceed previous years then maybe it wasn't the best move. Maybe a new coach will do something even greater with future teams. But no one will know if they don't give it a chance. I'm anxious to see how everything pans out but being affiliated with the school I might as well support whoever the next coach may be.

What do you want to bet that someone mentioned the ruckus to the AD and it was posted as damage control. Wasted a week which, in the cycle of coaching changes, can hurt. Still not impressed. Waiting with baited breath for a solid qualified hire. If nothing else, hopefully someone is feeding the discontent to the administration and they will actually be forced to try hard with this hire.

Be careful what you wish for as it may just happen.

 

My daughter played for Brian in grade school and he was a very dedicated coach, she loved his style of coaching as did the parents. Brian spent allot of time studying the game and I believe he knew plenty. Any time you have a parent coaching their own kid(s) you are asking for problems from other parents.

One other thing: parents of the unhappy kids rarely complain to the parents of the happy kids but to each other.

 

 

 

Wasn't saying anything negative about his family just that as a parent of girls I was surprised at how poorly he dealt with female players. Coaching girls is not the same as coaching boys.

That one made me laugh...the best program in the 9th Region has a coach that could be described the same way! No affiliation with the program, but with the talent I saw St. Henry went as far as they could. A big up from where they were. Now back to the cellar I suppose. Well as long as they win those coveted "A" tack and field state championships all is well.

 

Any sport that gets in the way of track will have success at St Henry in spite of the admin.

Options limited? Seriously? Besides St Henry....Holy Cross, Newport Central Catholic, Villa Madonna, Covington Latin, Notre Dame, Bishop Brossart. That is six other choices and more than half of those consistently put quality girls bball teams on the floor. Looks like a ton of options. N KY is loaded with Catholic schools and catholic influence.
