Parents who have a close family connection to the aforementined volleyball team.

Was it over playing time for their kid, style of play or something else? Ridiculous no matter how you cut it.

I believe the candidate pool has been reduced to St. Henry parents.

Great job he did considering volleyball is number one and St Henry is a small school, law of numbers.

 

Coburn was a very committed coach. He would look for ways to work year round with the girls and provided as much off season open gym time and conditioning as the schedule allowed.

I was alway impressed with his summer camp programs for the elementary and middle school girls. Year after year, with the help of his team and his wife, Brian ran some great summer gigs---which helped plant the seed for some future Lady Cru! His camps were always full.

 

I wish the program much success going forward. But I will also add.....careful what you wish for.

They are crazy if they think they can find someone with more basketball knowledge than Brian Coburn. It's a shame because he was totally committed to the kids and that program. I can not believe the powers that be allowed one family to cause this to happen......No I take that back, I can...

Absolutely crazy. Coach Coburn is very knowlegable about the game of basketball and did a tremendous job at St Henry. Riduculous that an AD would make this kind of decision.

Pretty certain that the decision came from above the AD. The administration came came thisclose to getting rid of him three years ago. Girls basketball is not taken seriously by the administration at St. Henry. In my mind this decision was not at all about improving the program. This decision appears to be about settling a score.

The good part in this is that Coach Coburn can move on with a clean conscience to a better situation with an administration which supports him.

But unfortunately it will be the girls left at St Henry who suffer the most due to the inept administration who seem to put more weight on whether or not you are from the "St Henry" family vs being qualified.

As a parent who wants to see my child happy in High School I will check my emotions at the door- I hope that they find a solid replacement but the fact that they took this ridiculously overblown action without a replacement lined up tells me they are clueless.

The parents responsible for this mess and the administration which let it fester and blossom need to be ashamed and called out on the carpet.

Well, the St. Henry program has suffered great attrition under Mr. Coburn. There are players that have played many minutes under him over the years that have refused to return to the program due to his ideas about how to run a basketball program. Check out the roster - only 3 seniors and 2 juniors in a school that has a dozen or more basketball players starting as freshmen each year and does not have to compete against other sports for players. This was a good decision made by the St. Henry administration although made too late for many girls.
