Maybe I missed it but I was looking for thoughts about no program at the tournament. I am one of those guys who likes to collect them and refer back to them later on. Didn't really like it when they took out a lot of the extras a couple years back. Such as the "shots heard around the state" section. Look at this tournament this year, in 5 years I would like to read about it again while sitting in rupp between games. I understand they cost money. Raise the price. Or better yet, I would like for the khsaa to have a preorder system in place. Order it online. The commish says this generation doesn't want programs. The people I was sitting around wanted a program. One guy, sitting right behind me, did go print if off and said even the ads were available to print off and then laughed. I cant see any business supporting this idea. I would like to think that the people from Madison Central would have liked to bought a program also. I understand the khsaa says they are losing money on programs. An online opportunity should be considered to at least "see" if it works. This year we took a look at an extra day and we are seeing it might work. I'm not for sure the cost for renting rupp, if that is what they do, but it had to go up for an extra day? Hopefully someone knows the answers to the concerns. I'm not sold on the extra day making for a better attendance figure. Having Madison Central make it to the finals certainly sold a lot of tickets.

I have always saved the programs from the tourney every year. I think the khsaa made a dumb decision not to have them this year.

Rumored of saving over 75,000 dollars to not sell programs at any events this year.... You could download the online version to your phone. Personally, I love the programs and I get one every year. I hope they change their minds and sell them next year.

On day one I indeed purchased a compete roster match ups and such for .50 cents and was offered a string of beads which I gave to a young boy behind me from the LHL. It was an insert to the paper!

I still have a few old programs. I love opening one of those up while sitting on the can. So many memories in those programs.

Pretty cheap not having programs. As for losing money, I think they announced this tourney as the 3rd highest attendance. KHSAA needs to get busy and get a title sponsor.

That was going to be my suggestion. $1 more per ticket and have it be free.

The program was put together. It can be viewed online so they put the time to put it together

Many lament the lack of a program but more and more I see the trend moving away from programs in practically all sports.

At least at the high school and college levels.

 

UK has little 12-16 page programs that they use now.

 

One of the best papers that the Lexington Hearld Leader produces is the one they sell on Wednesday (Opening Round of Sweet 16).

That contains on the info you need on teams participating.

 

If you want the record book, it is downloadable at the KHSAA site.

 

I think they could do some form of pre-order or sell them for 15 bucks at the souvenir stand.

 

The KHSAA stood to lose 50k on programs.

How are they losing money on printing them? I have a hard time understanding how you lose money at $8 a program or whatever it was, unless you print way more than you need.
