I gladly paid a buck for "heat sheets" at every swim meet.

For the regional tourney at BOK, I would have paid even more for a program.

I agree! And with what Goldie mentioned, surely they have enough ad money to cover most of the costs.

Programs should have enough advertisers to not only break even,but the KHSAA should make money on the deal.

If that's true...losing 50K on programs....the printer they used must have gotten rich!

Don't print as many and make it a "hot item" plus sell the ads for more than what they were selling them for. It's high school sports and championships....folks will pay a little more.

 

Many lament the lack of a program but more and more I see the trend moving away from programs in practically all sports.

At least at the high school and college levels.

 

UK has little 12-16 page programs that they use now.

 

One of the best papers that the Lexington Hearld Leader produces is the one they sell on Wednesday (Opening Round of Sweet 16).

That contains on the info you need on teams participating.

I think they could do some form of pre-order or sell them for 15 bucks at the souvenir stand.

I'm also a program collector. I hate the idea of online programs, regardless of the fact that I can print them for fee at work. Then again, it's not for me -- it's for the folks like my parents who don't use a computer.

 

Judging from my frequent scans of the crowd, which I do a lot, the gray in the crowd's hair tells me there are a ton of folks like my parents.

 

I urge the KHSAA to rethink that one, and cut costs elsewhere. Not sure where, but it's somewhere.

If they can't make money on it, I'd like to see them out-source it. I'm sure that there would be some private enterprises out there who could make a go of it.
