Holmes 65 Pleasure Ridge Park 60

I agree with you Get Some. Newcath,CovCath, and Cooper could of beat PRP. No one gives the 9th any credit one of the hardest region to get out of besides the 7th region but not to far behind them. Holmes had to beat 2 top 20 teams in state just to get to Rupp. NewCath and Covcath.

I can't agree with this. I think PRP would have run through all 3 of those teams.

There will be only 8 teams standing after tomorrow and Holmes is one. That earns respect in and of itself.

Wow. Really, are you guys that sensitive? I think Holmes has to play a very solid game to win, but I think they can beat Mad Central tomorrow. I don't think they'd have fared as well against Bullitt East as they did PRP. But BE didn't make the dance, so it's a moot point. The thin skin is ridiculous.

As for Bolden, Walter, I was most impressed by the way he took it when PRP got physical with him. He gave it right back when they closed it that way in the 3rd. He played well.

Bolden has really grown up throughout the year. Earlier in the year, he likely gets frustrated by the physical play, starts jawing some, and allows it to affect his game. Kid is growing up so much and it should be attributed to the senior leaders and coaching staff. Multiple times throughout the game today I saw both Coston and Palmer talking to Bolden to keep him under control both in the good and bad. I don't think some realize what was going through his head at the beginning of the game before he got in to the flow things. One media guy (Madison Central follower) next to me called him a ball hog and said they wouldn't want to play with him. I just laughed, shook my head, and kept my mouth shut. He takes a lot of pressure off Coston and Palmer because of his ball handling and ability to set others up.

When Holmes has the lead in the 4th quarter - - no shot clock, lightening fast guards and good foul shooters = bad news for the opposition.

Agreed...Palmer's experience at the point the past two years makes Holmes tough to trap and get turnovers off of.

Disagree...PRP's athleticism would've gotten those teams in a lot of foul trouble. Let's not forget this is the same PRP team that took Holy Cross behind the woodshed and beat a Bullitt East team that was #1 in the state at one point.

All good teams who would've had a solid showing against PRP but I don't think any beat them outside of maybe Newcath because of their size in the front court.

Runner up in 08. Wire to wire #1 ranked team and eventual champ in 09. don't give me the no respect junk. Doesn't fly. If you want to play that card to make this season seem more surreal, that's fine, but history of Holmes basketball and the respect they have gotten around the state doesn't jibe with your argument. Holmes wasn't ranked at the top of our NKY faithful's own NKY rankings on this board. You can go back and look. Walter was the only one who ranked them as high as 2nd or so. But, it's about respect right?

BGP 9th region preseason preview had them right as the top team in the region.

That's true, and that guy was very smart.

Would have been silly not to rank them number one that year coming off runner-up finish and most kids returning. 08/09 was spent taking shots at them and wishing someone would knock them off their perch. Sorry they disappointed everyone.

That's usually what happens when you are at the top. Ask Highlands football fans.

My point is not IF Cov Cath, Cooper or whoever would have beaten PRP...it is simply the lack of respect in ALL polls throughout Ky.

With what I saw out of PRP they would have been 0-3 vs NCC, CovCath and Cooper. Here's why: NCC would have posed serious problems with its size, length and solid shooting which is much better than Holmes with a solid pg, CC is also balanced with one of the best PGs in the State that can shoot probably better than Bolden on a consistent basis and a solid running mate in Fredricks and finally they would have had trouble with Coopers defense. No way do they get all the second shots vs the team that played the best defense, points allowed wise, for nearly the majority of the season and has two very good shooters. PRP would have struggled IMO vs. the 9ths top 4. If PRP normally plays the way they did today I stand by that.

Go Dogs and represent the 9th as best you can!

You live a defeated basketball existence don't you? Rodney Dangerfield. Don't like it either way. Got it.

Newcath doesn't shoot the ball better than Holmes...I'd take Holmes shooters all day. Holmes didn't defend Schulte out past the free throw line and that's why they won. Newcath's bread and butter is their inside game...not shooting. Pangallo and Beuter are streaky.

Bolden outplayed Ruthsatz two of the three games this year...again, not a better shooter. Stats don't lie. Covcath would've got killed on the boards by PRP. You are seriously underestimating Englemon and how good he is when he plays with a chip on his shoulder. Probably best rebounder in the state for that size and I stand by that.

Cooper wouldn't have been able to score enough to beat PRP.

Trust me, I'm a huge Cooper and Newcath fan because of the kids on those teams and Coach Sully, same with Covcath...but all 3 teams would've struggled with this PRP team. Holmes played a very controlled game today and their shooters hit shots. Add Englemon playing like a man on the boards and you have a perfect recipe for beating PRP.

Key sequence with a little over 2 mins left in third....

Bolden gets a huge block in transition but PRP scores.

Bolden goes down and hits a big shot at other end off sick cross over.

Englemon takes charge on next PRP possession.

Coston hits 3 with time winding down under a minute. CLUTCH.

As far as the whole respect thing goes, I rarely see Lexington/Louisville teams visit 9th region teams for a true road game. I see 9th region travel all over the state for teams and tournaments. I think the 9th is the only region where the whole region roots for its winner because they feel the rest of the state slights us.
