Yes, because safely handling a weapon is part and parcel to training her to use it. Better she knows the proper way to handle one than finding out the hard way.

I can teach you to shoot a rifle or a shotgun, but not a handgun. Tip: rifles and shotguns are wholly unpractical to carry around, and it's impossible to find the right shoes to go with either.
