NKY Freshman Baseball: Top Team Predictions and Players to Watch

Featured Replies

Heard about Trame and watched Ohmer throw last year. He has a good arm. Are they the 1 2 3 for Scott?

If they stay down on the freshman team, yes. Trame and Terry might start out on JV. Ohmer will probably start out on the freshman team and then move up in the middle of the year.

I would think that Highlands frosh team would be pretty strong if in fact they all play frosh. Names of note: Walkenhorst, Kreeger, Cain, Raisor, Lindeman, Gesenhues, Casebolt, Mayhew and Doty that I can think of at this late hour. Many of these kids have cut their teeth playing SWOL the last 3 or so years which should greatly aid the program. If Mills and Ramey were in the grade that their age would dictate, this class would be really strong and when combined with this years Soph's, could lead the Birds to the promised land.

Not sure Brady Gesenhues is playing baseball for HHS. I heard that he was concentrating on soccer. I think there are several other sophomores (other than Ramey and Mills) who would still be eligible for 15U SWOL ball this summer. Looks like the future is bright now and in the future for JB and the HHS program.

If your just talking freshman teams you have to include NCC. They have won the 3 of the last 5 regionals with a runner up as well. Always well coached and the kids play hard

Am I correct in saying that NCC fields an all new Freshman class each year (no 8th graders to move up)? Do you have a line on where the players from this newest class have been playing?

Only way they take 8th graders is if the numbers are low. Not sure where this class has been playing. Will take some investigation.

A few of them are from the omega rockets.

Kevin Gray is an outstanding coach and a better person. He has done a terrific job with the NCC Freshmen and they should also be considered a top team.

Pretty solid players from that team that I would assume will play.......I think that Rockets team has freshman players spread out on three high school teams this year - Highlands, NCC and Bellevue..........

Weren't they just a little ole' Knothole team? Seems like I remember reading something about them in years past.

Sounds like Covcath has a really good freshmen class this year. I'm sure Ryle will be good as well, Coach Collins is a very good coach.

Some played for The "Heat"

Considering your kids on the team why don't you fill us in?

Call them what you want but I just looked at last year's roster and I will take 6 of them. I only say 6 because I don't know the rest. Solid ball players.

The #1 and 2 for the bw freshman team are Keenan Bode and Joey Sheron. Bode started a couple games last year for the freshman tigers along with some relief appearances and Sheron was in the starting rotation for Conners freshman team.
