Lee & Owsley Predictions 1/27

Featured Replies

The game of the year thus far? Im saying so! Wow, the already proven Lee Co. Bobcats against the up and coming Owsley Co. Owls. Lee Co. has won the both match-ups this year so they have to have confidence going into this game, but the Owls are starting to get that old Owsley Co. swagger back. The bad blood runs deep between these two teams, all the way back to the incident with the bus windows in the 60's. I hope it doesnt go that far, but this big of a rivalry is good for both programs. Anyway, Owsley wants to put another All "A" Banner up beside '90, '99, '00, and '01. Plus, third time's a charm............. Owls by 2 in OT.

Not to bring up bad blood between these 2 but I found it really enjoyable reading about the last game between these 2 schools (i think it was the last time). There was talk about cheating, playing posseum, injuries, posters & the kitchen sink i believe. I hated they closed that thread!! Will there be more tricks up these 2 teams sleeves come friday???

You never know!!!! ;)

Neeley has played in big games last year as a sophmore(distric champ and earned the defense award) Smith is a pure athlete and is on top his game. Congelton held a pure scorer last night in Clark Stepp to 14. Tradition and this team is being led buy someone that knows how to win and that is always dangerous. I hear they are really coming together and owlsey does have the tradition of coming up big in the all a. Lee is no dobt a solid team and if owlsey is going to have a chance Rich must be kept from dominating inside. Its always hard to beat a team 3 times in a season especially the great rivalry these teams have. Great Game friday night either way it goes.

Owsley in a close one by 3(freethrows and game winning shots could prove this game to be a classic)

Lee should win. Neeley and Smith are top players no doubt, but Lee has much more depth.

Thats the point I was trying to make earlier. No doubt Lee is deeper than JBS, and NO DOUBT that Lee is deeper than OCHS. They will have trouble matching up as they did in both games earlier IMO. So if you shut down one player, another, like Johnson at JC, will step it up. I think this game will be close, but lee will pull away at the end.

I will take Owsley in close one, by 4. Will be a great game either way. THe bobcats will have to keep there cool or the owls could make it ugly. NOt taking anything away from Lee, but when have they beat the owls "when it counted"?

I was just saying that not many teams can match up Man to Man against Lee.

I would agree with that.

I really like both these teams and its good for our district to be represented so well. I just think Lee is a better team. Either way, the 56th is going to the finals. If Lee brings their A game and Owsley brings their A game, Lee will win no doubt, but if OCHS plays well and Lee is not hitting anything, OCHS has a chance.

Who will win this big time game?

Observations:

1. Third game this week for Lee only second for the owls.

2. Pending Owls stay out of foul trouble they win. If anyone gets into foul trouble Lee will be the favorite

3. Momentum is swinging in the favor of the owls

4. These boys would have been very young in the late 90's so I'm wondering how much they remember about all of the excitement that winning the 14th region All A brings? They might not know or remember but the community will.

5. There is no pressure on these kids..expectations have been subpar all year and they are unconsciousness to those expectations which will benefit the owls.

6. In earlier games vs. lee the owls youthfullness will not impact performance(losses by 13 and 19).

7. Lee is position to positon bigger and probably more athletic...they lack the true go to person. when they need a basket...Owlsey has Smith and Neeley with nerves of steel to take and make the game winner.

8. Two weeks into the his season Smith has brought to this team the senior leadership that they have lacked throughout the year.

9. Beating a team for the third time in a season is tough...regardless if you've been beat by double digits both times.

Prediction= Owsley 60, lee 55

What happen with the bus windows in the 1960's?

Good Call! Smith is the last remaining player from the 2001 All "A"... he was in 7th grade! He should remember how it feels and be a real big motivator for the young owls.

You say Lee has no go to guy...hmmm. Well, I would have to agree, they have go to GUYS! Anyone can beat you. Thats the point.

I have some debates on these

1.) Lee can go 9 deep, the 3 games this week wont be that big of an issue.

2.) If Owsley gets in foul trouble they are in trouble no matter what. Not a great bench

3.) Not sure where you get that the momentum is swinging the favor of the Owls. The Owls have fan support but Lee has had that all season

4.) Lee wants it just as bad even if they haven't won one, maybe even moreso

5.) I think the pressure has never been greater on these kids this year

6.) Not even sure what you mean

7.) Smith is tough no doubt, but I think Brandenburg can step up and hit a clutch shot more that Neely can

8.) That is true, Smith has done a fine job

9.) It is tough to beat a team 3 times but I think Lee is that much better than Owsley and will win.

Lee 68

Owsley 64

Lee County will win this game by 15. Too many Bobcats. I know you are gonna say all this hoopla about Smith, but fact is Caleb Fetters will eat him alive defensively. Mark my words here folks. Lee will win this game.

I'll go with Owsley. Smith is too good! Fetters can't hold his own with him. Who can handle Neeley? This is a different team. I will have to go with the Owls.
