February 8, 201313 yr I've always wondered where those numbers come from. You see these huge numbers of abortions tossed out by the anti-abortion crowd, but I never see any links backing it up.
February 8, 201313 yr Author I've always wondered where those numbers come from. You see these huge numbers of abortions tossed out by the anti-abortion crowd, but I never see any links backing it up. I was more interested in the medical malpractice deaths and the DUI deaths but even if the abortions were only 10% of that figure it makes you take notice.
February 8, 201313 yr I've always wondered where those numbers come from. You see these huge numbers of abortions tossed out by the anti-abortion crowd, but I never see any links backing it up. Facts About Abortion: U.S. Abortion Statistics In 2008, approximately 1.21 million abortions took place in the U.S., down from an estimated 1.29 million in 2002, 1.31 million in 2000 and 1.36 million in 1996. From 1973 through 2008, nearly 50 million legal abortions have occurred in the U.S. (AGI).
February 8, 201313 yr BTW I oppose the thought of abortion, but I am against a law preventing it. However, I do think that it will be looked upon as one of the greatest tragedies in our countries history.
February 8, 201313 yr Author JD, So according to my quick math, the math provided on the image jives with your stats, correct?
February 8, 201313 yr What it looks like to me. It is shocking when you look at it on a by day count, but even more so when you extrapolate it out over a year.
February 8, 201313 yr I disagree with the man not having a say in an abortion, after all the guy is who shot the stuff to fertilize the egg and it does have the guys genes in it also. So it is part of the guy. Many guys would accept the responsibility and never want the woman to be part of it after the birth. So I disagree about it being the woman's choice.
February 8, 201313 yr I guarantee that absolutely zero of those aborted children were in favor of it. No one considered what they might have wanted. It is not a question of a woman doing what she wants with her body. It is an issue of being responsible.
February 8, 201313 yr I would be interested in knowing where the statistics for medical malpractice came from. I am not saying the number is wrong. Also, what exactly defines malpractice? Are hospital acquired infections included in that number?
February 8, 201313 yr JD, So according to my quick math, the math provided on the image jives with your stats, correct? Looks like it to me. 1.21 million divided by 365 days a year = 3315 per day
February 8, 201313 yr In fairness, the 1.21 million was a 2008 figure and the video in the link above states that in 2009 that figure dropped to 1.15 million, or 3150 per day. A 5% drop is significant when looking at abortion statistics in and of themselves, but that is a miniscule difference when put into the context of this thread (compared to other deaths outlined in the first post)
