This was a 5 point game with about 5 or 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter, but Ashland couldnt get over the hump. At one point near halftime Ashland missed 3 point blank layups that would have cut the lead to 1, but HH went down and hit a 3. Patrick Patterson did not impress me one bit. He looked pretty good, and you can tell he has great athletic ability. He seemed to have trouble getting open against McDavid and Williams, and Brandon Williams took it right at him a couple of times. If UK is recruiting him Ive got 4 words Patterson is "The Next Sheray Thomas". I would take Matt Thomas, Drew McDavid, Antonio Owens, or Jon Vanhoose over him anyday. But I was pleased with Ashland's effort. McDavid, Thomas, and Williams all played well. I also think Ashland was like 1-10 from the foul line, which is just nonsense. On a side note HH's student section was the most disrespectful, rude, obnoxious bunch of people I have ever seen.

A lot closer than the score indicates.

The only thing closer to me is that Hunt High's score is closer to 0 than I expected.

Pretty good if you can hold them to only 53. Actually Hunt High wasnt that impressive when they scrimmaged Boyd. They are not near the team that they were last year.

Good game for the Tomcats if it was actually closer than score showed, but you wont be anyone but David School in Prestonsburg with only 36 pts.

I didn't get home in time to listen to this one on the internet. Do you have any stats? Did Ashland slow it down, or were both teams playing solid defense?

They do get a bid out of control.

HH won as I expected! But sounds like Flynn may be slowing things down again??

At first I was suprised by this score but then I got to thinking about 36 points. If my math is correct that is an average of 9 a quarter. How can you expect to win scoring 36 points?

I haven't been to an Ashland game this year but I was under the understanding that Ashland was playing uptempo. Is this still the case or have they went back to the style that was successful for the past 4 or 5 seasons?

No stats, Williams probably had 10, McDavid 12 or so, Thomas 14 or so. Patterson maybe like 14..

I am sure Coach Flynn, rightly so, gave his team the best chance to win. Why would you want to run and gun with a team like Huntington?

I agree with Cubster. I don't think this means that Flynn is going to take the air out of the ball the rest of the season (then again, it might), but it is more likely that he did so for this game only.

That's fine I'm not questioning the strategy just asking if Ashland was still playing uptempo. FWIW they have been under 50 points the past 6 games. So a slower pace didn't just start tonight if the scores are any indication. Maybe they have been running and shooting poorly, like I said I have not seen them play so just trying to be informed.

Flynn slowed it down up until the 4th quarter where they had to play catchup, and had to go up tempo. Thats really where Huntington really spread the score.

I would take Patterson over Thomas anyday although he doesn't play to his ability.

Ashland only had 4 player score. Thomas had 12, McDavid 11, Williams 7 and Cannoy 6. Ashland only shot 29% for the game. Both teams took the same amount of shots and Huntington made 48%. Both teams had 12 turnovers. Both teams were terrible from the foul line.
