Good teams play team defense. Seibert might get the call to guard Bolden, however there will be four others helping out. This is true whether its Bolden or anyone else with the ball. Lately, NCC has been playing awesome TEAM defense.

We agree.

NewCath that good!!!

Seibert played unbelievable "D" on Saunders.

The Breds killed themselves the entire game with "dumb" turnovers!! Zac Pangallo with an "off night" handling the ball, turned the ball over way too many times and then got a "T" for slamming the ball into the floor, got yanked immediately!!

Bueter and Seibert connect on two beautiful alley-oops. McDonald could not be stopped as usual and Schulte on the defensive end was his usual self.

Bueter was Bueter.

Alex Trentman for the 'Stangs was the "man", 18pts., and played great "D" as well.

JV game was the UGLIEST game I've witnessed in quite some time.

Lawnboy lets not forget how good the Pangallo kid played after the first quarter. He hit some big shots and had quite a few assists the next 3 quarters and had a very good defensive game on Brossarts guards. The technical foul call was just flat out a horrible call. No normal average referee is going to call a T on that. Total Joke because the explaination the coaching staff received was that he got the T for kicking the ball, which absolutely did not happen. Breds played great team defense and rebounded the ball very well. Breds had 8 turnovers after the first quarter and then settled down with only 2 the 2nd quarter and not many the 2nd half either. Breds are really good and now a few days off before they prepare for next Fridays showdown in Covington against Holmes.

Late arrriving to the discussion.

A) Agree NCC is that good. They match what we have, and are bigger, wider, and longer than we are. They were the best team tonight.

Whenever the two teams play we are somewhat mirror images of each other, both playing intense defense, and high percentage basketball.

Drew MacDonald is really getting good. Great touch for a big man, excellent body control, and good floor presence. I think he needs to give up basketball and concentrate on golf! Seibert can really guard for a guy 6'5"

B) Give my man Jake Jennings some love for frustrating Mr. Pangallo tonight, and causing his some turnovers and the frustration, leading to his getting T'd up.

C) The SyDome officially holds 750 according to the Fire Marshall sign.

D) I hate it that we turned folks away, and that we didn't have an alternate means of allowing them to watch the game. I can't do it all.

E) There was an informal discussion held between the two schools reps tonight proposing that starting next year, the beginning of the new two year contract, that we would look into playing the series at a larger venue (CCMS, Regents, TMC) and split the gate. While this is only the second time that we have lost to NCC in the SyDome since 1997 (6-2) we are reasonable people, and are agreaable to pursuing it.

F) Trentman seems to be OK. Ben Uebel re-dinged his ankle but returned to finish the game.

G) Thanks to all who helped make our Empress Chili night a huge success and for Steve Martin for stepping up and sponsoring it.

No question his "D" was good.

My assessment of Zach and "way too many" may be a little off. However, IMO he had an "off night" in the turnover Department. This is in no way diminishes his overall body of work tonight, or for the season. He can handle the ball with the best in the region, plays great "D", and is a threat to score. The "T", I agree, it probably shouldn't have been called, but he did slam the ball into the floor out of frustration (he did maintain control of the ball). It was plain to see Grant was not happy and he was immediately replaced.

IMO, eliminating turnovers are the only thing the Breds need to work on, great individual/team defense and balanced scoring seem to be clicking.

I love the kid's competitiveness and would chalk it up as a learning experience.

He clearly is a Top 5 Diaper dandy in the Region. My definition of a diaper dandy, any player in Frosh or Soph class starting for the first time consistently in every game.

Bolden is the best Sophomore in the region, maybe state. However, he has a very, very good rival in Pangallo. 3 years of head to head will be great entertainment.

No doubt Jake Jennings did an awesome job last night! He is such a tough kid who is not afraid to step in there and take a charge and more often than not, he gets that call. I love that he was not afraid to take on McDonald last night at one point. He lost that battle but still a great foul. Plays great defense and is also not afraid to drive the basket.

Would love to see this game moved to another venue and turned into something bigger. The potential to make some money for both schools certainly exists. Such a great and unique rivalry with so many families connected to each other. I'd love to see this for the boys as well as girls teams.

I agree totally! You could have a boys/girls game at places like The Bank of KY or maybe Thomas More which would generate alot of money and everyone could see the game.

Heck, we could have even have a Catholic schools tournament! Don't tell RCC9 though because that's another one his kid can't play in!

Pangallo is good! But, his game isn't close to matching Boldens in my opinion. Pangallo is as good as any other really good Sophomore in the class, but Bolden is better than a lot of Seniors. IMO it's Bolden and then everyone else on the next level down.

There may be a second level for McDonald and Stanley, and then everyone else.

Bolden

McDonald/Stanley

Everyone else (Pangallo, Robinson, Schreck, Schuh, etc)

Again, just my opinion.

Nice win by the Breds. As for the gym I think we sold out some of our 7th and 8th grade games at BB. Granted my team was amazing! Good luck for both of these teams moving forward.

This will be fun to watch over the years. The differences that I see are the responsibilities given to each player:

Zack - handle & distribute the ball---needs to continue to shoot as he has been, he needs/has to be another threat on the floor for NewCath.

Bolden - handle, distribute, attack rim, and score whenever and from wherever. Bolden's length, quickness, and handle make him hard to guard.

I would say in the games where his point totals are low, it is because the team has established it's presence down low and are taking advantages of that. No question he can score inside or out.
