In a 3-man crew the outside official opposite the benches always has responsibility for the call.

 

He was even further back. The lead official made the call on the time. Plus he called the a foul.

 

He was correct on the foul. I am not sure how he called basket good plus call a foul?? Other 2 officials far behind the play.

Throw the Red Flag... it's never good when the refs huddle in a basketball game. call went back and forth like 3 times... Great effort Lady Panthers. Tae (#4) best Pg in the state IMO. she will be a good D1 ball handler next year. District 11 watch out.

There is replay now for state tournaments. I'm not sure if that applies to the A or not.

Correct call, wild finish. Only thing officials didn't do was give one final signal after meeting at scorer's table that basket was good. They discussed it then one waved above his head which the Frankfort fans and players thought meant basket wasn't good, but just meant game was over.

First of all I sound like a blithering idiot, and didn't know the correct final score which was as posted here 41-39.

 

Secondly, the backboard technology at Brossart high school is further advanced than that at the Frankfort Convention Center Arena. No red insert, and no red light. Therefore, even if you watch a replay, there will be no indication as to whether the shot beat the buzzer. Brossart at least has a red light. The only way you will be able to tell if the shot was good or not, will be IF the scoreboard is in the frame.

 

Survive and advance in an otherwise forgettable game. Lady Stangs 19 of 24 from the free-throw line. Futscher 18, Stadtmiller 15.

 

BB and NCC at 10am on Saturday. NCC looked sharp vs Webster County.

It was an emotional roller coaster at the end of the Bishop Brossart - Frankfort contest in the Touchstone Energy Kentucky State All "A" Classic for both Frankfort and Bishop Brossart.

Frankfort's Brianna Burbridge let fly with a long three pointer with just 11 seconds remaining to erase a Bishop Brossart 39-37 lead and give the hometown favorites a 40-39 advantage. Bishop Brossart's Madison Eisenman quickly took the ball out of bounds made a crisp pass to Sarah Futscher at the three point line who made a perfect pass to Maria Greis. Greis in turn threaded a pin point strike to Abby Stadtmiller on the run who laid the ball in a second before the buzzer to give the Lady 'Stangs what seemed to be a 41-40 win as time expired. BUT WAIT!

The officials huddled at the scorer's table with the timer for what seemed to be an eternity before waving their arms as if they were waving the basket off. The Frankfort bench erupted in joy, the hometown fans went balistic thinking the basket had been ruled late and the Lady Panthers had won. BUT WAIT!

It seems what the officials were discussing was whether Stadtmiller was fouled before the shot and should get a free throw as well. They were signaling the game was over and the Stadtmiller basket was good.

Then the announcement was made. It was official...Bishop Brossart won 41-40 and would advance to the State Semifinals to once again face Newport CC on Saturday morning. Now it was the Lady 'Stangs bench and fans that erupted in excitement.

"Wow, this is the type of game you'll remember forever years later, " exclaimed an exhausted Coach Josh Feldmann."You have to give Frankfort and their coaches a lot of credit. I'm so proud of our team."

Brossart outshot Frankfort from the field 37.6% to 22.6%, and outshot them from the line 79.2% in a game that saw 7 lead changes and 8 ties. Brossart made 19 of 24 free throws.

Frankfort led a great deal of the game including a 21-16 advantge at the half as Brossart shot only 28.6%. They outrebounded BBHS 40-33 with a whopping 19-3 edge in offensive rebounds. The Lady Panther's Shauntae Brown was scoring 18 points hitting 8 of 11 from the line but hitting only 5 of 16 from the field.

Trailing 37-34 with 1:54 remaining Sarah Futscher made a driving layup and was fouled by Burbridge. She converted the free throw to tie it at 37 all. Following Jasmine Washington's failed three point attempt, Brossart marched back down the floor and Rachel Hartig gave the 'Stangs a 39-37 advantage on a nice assist from Eisenman.

That set up Burbridges three bomb with 11 seconds and the classic ending for the game.

Futscher wound up with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Abby Stadtmiller had 15 including the game winner. Hartig had 4 with Maria Greis and Morgan Verst each netting 2 to round out the scoring.

Brossart is now 18-4 while Frankfort falls to 13-5.

The Lady 'Stangs advance to the semifinals for the second straight year to face NCC. at 10 AM Saturday.

"Years from now I hope they don't forget the whole play," said Feldmann "not just the layup but the passes from Eisenman to Futscher to Greis. They all had to be perfect and they were."

After the Frankfort three to put them up one - BB inbounded the ball with 9 sec left. But there was a approx. a 3 second hesitation as I believe she was waiting for the timeout to be called. But BB was out of timeouts. The pass came into Futscher in the back court who in turn I believe hit Hartig. Hartig then fed Greis at midcourt in front of scorer table. Stadtmiller was directly across from Gries on opposite side. As soon as Gries got the pass Stadtmiller was in full motion. ( i thought for sure Greis was going to give a midcourt heave for shot) but she saw Abby breaking free and hit her in perfect stride around 3 point line at top of key. Nobody from Frankfort was back but there were two defenders breathing down on her hard. Two Dribbles and she laid it in LEFT HANDED and was hammered. She did beat the horn. What was so amazing about that play was that Stadtmiller was racing against the clock, had two defenders bearing down on her hard, She knew the contact was coming, and she was able to convert the left handed lay up ( she is right handed). Amazing finish
