Bishop Brossart 78 Augusta 68 (10th Region Class "A" Championship)

Featured Replies

Saunders with 28 for the Stangs. He was All-Tournament along with Burns & Trentman.

Bach with 39 for Augusta. 12 for Kelsch. They both made All-tournament.

Congrats to the Mustangs for winning their fourth straight 10th region All "A" Title--Best of luck in Frankfort (Still hard not to say Richmond?). Saunders a beast again tonight. A little love out to the Mustang guards--Ben Uebel, Eric Reiger and Jake Jennings for their tourney performances; especially the Senior Uebel, who should have made the All tourney team for his all around performance and outstanding ball handling & defense (its about more than points sometimes?). Agree they will be a tough out at State--Go represent the 10th well!!

Congratulations to BB! Great team effort. Good luck in Frankfort.

Contratry to my unofficial preliminary reporting, Bach did have 39 points with 31 of them coming in the second half, and 19 in the fourth quarter.

Coach Code, in his post-game comments, used a Corey Pelle comparison. That's high marks for Bach to be spoken of by Coach Code in the same sentence with our most favored non-Mustang.

BB seems like one of the select few teams that can win the A.

Congrats to BB on the win. I know you will represent the 10th well in Frankfort!!!!!

We will do our best! I'm hoping our Republic Bank Classic benefits us.

We will have to shoot the ball well, and stay out of foul trouble.

Kids are fired up about going back and playing Collegiate. The Titans sent us packing early last year, so we have some unfinished business with them.

Panthers' rally not enough to end Mustangs' streak

The above is a link to the Ledger article for the game.

I must say as impressed as I was with Brent Bach, the best overall player on the court, by far, was Justin Saunders. For the 4 games through the tournament he absolutely did everything needed to help the Mustangs to victory. Points, rebounds, assists, steals and stingy defense. His senior leadership (along with the same from Ben Uebel) really shined in the 10th all A. Congrats to Justin on what was truly a MVP performance. And congrats to his fellow leader Ben Uebel for capturing the All academic award for the Mustangs.

Good luck down state Mustangs, I'm sure you will represent the 10th well.

Congratulations Mustangs! Good luck in the All A. Play hard and have fun.

Congratulations to the Mustangs. They did what they were supposed to do and sometimes that's tougher than "pulling the upset". They have a very nice team and what impressed me the most was their depth. They seem to have 8 really solid players plus and as always they play like the well coached, disciplined team they are! I think they have a real shot at winning the state tournament and wish them all the luck in the world in doing so.

They have a very tough first round game vs Louisvlle Collegiate. They need to take it one game at a time for sure. LC is very athletic and fast.

Knott County Central is likely the going away favorite but BB showed well in the LexCath Holiday tourney so they have a shot most definitely.

31 in the second half is enough to get him in the KHSAA record book. The minimum is 30.

Agree. I have KCC coming out of the lower bracket in the contest.

I am thinking that the KHSAA would not recognize this because the All A is not a state sanctioned event. Mustang might know more about this.

The All "A" series is an independent tournament, much as the Republic Bank Classic or the L.I.T.. It is sanctioned by the KHSAA, just not recognized by the KHSAA as a true regional or state championship. All stats, wins/losses are indeed included in season and career records and part of KHSAA recordkeeping.

Congrats to Mr. Bach on the accomplishment!!!
