This story is unreal and awesome. I'm all in and find it fascinating as well. This could go so many different ways. I think I might be on board with PP92's theory. I have a really hard time believing that he wasn't involved in this hoax.

I first heard of the gay theory on my way to the gym this morning of Fox Sports Radio. I think it is definitely plausible.

 

Te'o has a lot of Tim Tebow in him already. You can gather that just hearing him in interviews (eg. naive, spiritual, oh golly shucks attitude, etc.). Seriously, couldn't you see a guy like Tebow cultivating a relationship with someone online and say it is the love of his life?

Hey...I'm a lifetime Notre Dame fan, but at this point, it seems somewhat accurate.

Al Gore couldn't have seen the unintended consequences of the internet when he invented it in the mid-90s. To set up this soap opera, we have a naive Mormon of Samoan decent that goes to the most catholic university in America, somewhere along the way he is introduced to a beautiful Polynesian pooka (*see Harvey, 1944) that apparently another Polynesian NFL player met before Manti knew of her; he fell in love, sent her flowers, she contracted leukemia, she dies of leukemia (after being in a tragic car accident) the same day his grandmother dies, and he continues to play in her honor the rest of the season; then, he finds out she was fake and we all find out Notre Dame was fake on the football field. This has Oprah written all over it.
