Looks like the Bengals drafted the wrong QB yet again.

 

With that said most of the teams picking QB's in that draft apparently picked wrong QB's. The teams who took Gabbert, Ponder, Locker, etc probably should have at least drafted Dalton. Even to this point Dalton has been better than Newton, but no doubt Newton's upside is ten times better if he gets it figured out. So while the Bengals may have missed on taking Dalton over Kapernick, they didn't mess up as bad as some of the other teams who took QB's in that draft too.

Dalton hasn't been nearly as good as Newton IMO.

Just shows how hard it is to predict how well a college QB will do in the NFL. EVERY TEAM passed on Russell Wilson TWICE last year because he is too short. EVERY TEAM passed on Kaepernick once or twice. Brady and Montana, two of the all time greats were not picked early at all. It is just hard for all teams to predict QB success.

I know I was not wanting Colin Kapernick in the draft when we took Dalton over him, and was happy we passed on him. However boy was I wrong because he sure looks like the real deal out there and I know I would have loved to have had him over Dalton now. His ability to pass and run is amazing.

Didn't know Zac Robinson had that much upside going for him to compare him to Drew Brees.

Harbaugh was looking like a pretty smart man yesterday after replacing Alex Smith with Kapernick.

 

I like the way the kid plays, but hats look funny on him in interviews.

While true, being drafted to an organization that can develop QB's and put enough weapons around him to succeed helps.

The most impressive post season performance I've ever seen by a QB. Even better than Phil Simms SB. Colin Kapernick was amazing and his speed is something I never knew he had. That was just a fun and entertaining performance period.

???? Dalton 0 playoff wins, so it's rather a moot point to try and say Dalton is better than the other QB's you listed.

I look at any NFL season as a failure if your team doesn't make the SB, that is what they are playing for. Dalton has been horrible in the playoffs so to say he is better than others really doesn't make much sense to me. Especially in today's era of the NFL where a QB is such an important part of a team and how well they do. Also you have to look at how many games they all played. Andy Dalton has the most game experience and still hasn't done much to impress me.

Go look in the Andy Dalton thread. Joe Flacco's numbers in the playoffs for this first two seasons were even worst than Dalton's, yet you give him credit even though he did nothing to help his team win in those years. Where is Flacco now? How long did it take him until he got to a point where he could actually help his team win in the playoffs and play against the Brady's and Mannings? Was not until his 4th season, up until his 4th season he was terrible in the playoffs besides one game in this 3rd season. Its easy to only see the here and now and forget how players were in the beginning. While Dalton has played very poorly in the playoffs, so did a guy who got wins but did nothing to help in those games in Flacco his first two seasons. So for Dalton to take over a team who had a 4 and 12 record the year before, a terrible head coach as you have mentioned a horrible owner, etc and was a team people thought could go winless his rookie year. To go to the playoffs in both years, shows that the Bengals did get it more right than those other teams who drafted QB's so far. Now can he get them any further that is the question, and next year should be a big year in finding that out for sure.

 

Now I think we all could agree on that it sure would have been nice if they got Colin Kapernick, even though the fans probably would have burn the stadium down if they picked him at that time. That guy has looked amazing!
