Yikes. By the way, if you didn't see Patton Oswalt's improv Star Wars plot on Parks and Recreation it's a must watch.

I like Whedon, but I have serious doubts that he could have suppressed his voice and dialogue style, which would have been... incongruous.

Patton Oswalt needs to be a Hutt or a little Wookie at least in the new series...he's awesome.

No, in fact for the longest time he refused to acknowledge the canonicity of any of the novels. Later he recanted somewhat and started calling it the "expanded universe."

I guess I am more jaded than most. I harbor no concern that they can make the franchise any worse than Lucas did later on.

 

I personally would have liked to have had Whedon involved somewhat because let's face it, Malcolm Reynolds was the purest form of Han Solo since Greedo shot first.

They started filming Episode VII in the middle of May, they have also confirmed that they are in the process of casting the second upcoming Star Wars movie, based around bounty hunter Boba Fett, and now Hasbro, the company responsible for making all of the Star Wars toys, "accidentally" leaked the year-by-year release schedule for all of the upcoming Star Wars movies at a recent toy convention:
