Road work this weekend on the way to WKU

Take I-71 to 265 (Gene Snyder) and take Gene Snyder over to I-65 S.

Running joke in our group is that there has been non stop construction on Louisville highways since we first went to WKU in 1975. Gene Snyder By Pass has been a Godsend.

The Gene is exit 9 off of 71 South.

Note: You will be on the Gene for quite a while before hitting 65 South.

Be prepared to run into some kind of delays between Exit 65 (Munfordville) and Exit 48 (Park City) of I-65 South while traveling.

Remeber the state has it out for Highlands...

Maybe we will take the "short bus" this week and run over orange cones the whole way to Bowling Green.

Although it seems bizarre, it is actually shorter to take 71 all the way into Louisville and then 65 S from there. Spaghetti junction is no fun at the wrong time of day and Gene Snyder is easier driving, but it is longer.

Oh I know that. But if you want to avoid both Watterson/I-71 and Spaghetti Junction, 265 is the best option.

HAhahahaha....i spit coke out my nose.

Damn those orange barrels anyway!

Going through Lexington is only 20 more miles and a lot less traffic since bluegrass Pky is the road less traveled. I recommend that route instead of getting tied up on 71. I have driven 71 numerous times recently for work and its got a bad spot near Carrollton and then the interchange near Waterson and 71 was backed up numerous times even back past Gene Snyder. I'd avoid it all together if I were you.

Truckers refer to orange barrels as Snyder Droppings.

That is actually Schneider droppings or eggs. The orange trucks and trailers of Schneider Trucking. Just for the record, the barrels are full of dispatcher brains. :D

Leatherneck is already in Bowling Green. He actually missed the 71 turn off and ended up going to Lexington and then the Bluegrass Pkwy. Still made it to Bowling Green in a little over 3 hours.

I saw another thread on the highway construction, and it looked as if the closing will effect coming home. Hey, as long as everyone gets to the game on time, nothing else matters.
