All season we've heard about great players in the area. Players like Luke Bir, Cameron Fogle, Drew Barker, Kuntz, Durham, Nussbaum etc. All deserving of all the kudos they've recieved all season long, but there is one young man in the area who has hardly gotten mentioned on this site which is long overdue.

One of the best players in NKY who time after time has taken his team on his shoulders when they needed him most and has never dissapointed.

AJ Collins SR Cooper Jaguars.

He has been the heart and soul of that team the entire season. He has played banged up game after game and you still can't get him off the field.

His stats aren't too shabby either on a team that has no so called "Superstars" yet his contributions can never be bigger than what he's done just the last half of the season.

He has rushed for over 1460 yards this season with 16 TD's as well as having 4 Recieving TD's also.

His strenghts go further than just the offensive side of the ball, he is a great defenisve player also with 32 solo tackles as well as 7 int's. He also returns kicks with over a 23 yards per punt return.

In the playoffs alone so far he has been outstanding. In the first playoff game against Anderson Co. he only played in just a little past halftime and in the short time he spent on the field rushed for 128 yards while scoring 3 TD's, he also threw for another 79 yard TD pass as well as had 2 int's and 2 fumble recoveries in the game.

In the 2nd playoff game he only went out and rushed for another 263 yards and 3 TD's

With all the talk of the great local players, I personally think this player has been long overlooked. Not only is he a great player but also one of the nicest young men you will ever meet. He is someone that will never talk about his accomplishments, one that never pooints the finger at himself for any of the limelight, he instead is very quiet who just loves the game.

One of NKY's best this year and I wish him all the luck in the world in the future.

I agree. Top notch player on both sides of the ball. He deserves any and all accolades he gets this year. I am sure he will get many.

Could not agree more!!

Kid is a gamer with a ton of heart. Great three sport athlete.

He takes after his mother on being polite and a nice young man.

I've known AJ for several years and have taken him on out-of-town baseball trips and you can't ask for a nicer young man. He has run the ball even harder once the playoff's kicked in and is on a true mission to make sure he leaves nothing on the field in case it is his last game. Whatever happens from here on out, he should be proud of the way he has handled himself on and off the field.

By the way, his dad is ok too.

I think the world may be coming to an end. I couldn't agree more with Hellbird. Aj is a great kid and a great athlete.

Good kid and I wish him all the luck in the world.

Hard worker

Was that the year the Blackhawks beat them in the Superbowl? ... Just joking, don't mean to bring up old wounds. AJ was a handful back then as well.

I became a fan when I saw on the court. Balls to the wall. Talented. I then saw him play football and NOT to my surprise he was good and tough.

Easy kid to root for.

You should watch him play Baseball also....just as much heart he puts into every game.

He is one of those very special athletes that no matter what sport you are playing, he should be the first kid you pick for your team. He is just that much of a gamer!

His mom is awesome too, his dad.....well he's ok too I guess j/k They are all great!!!!

Was thrilled that, after what ~ 5 or 6 nominations? ~ he FINALLY won the WCPO Player of the Week today. Congrats to AJ!!
