I've watched this a few times and here are my thoughts.

 

First of all, unrelated to the fight, PCC certainly wasn't running Belfry's offense at this point in the game. I'm not sure at what point they abandoned it, but they didn't run it the whole game as has been reported.

 

At first glance, I didn't see a lot of the things that was reported regarding this fight. But after watching it closely, I think some of it must have happened off camera.

 

Go to the 0:40 mark, the fight breaks out after the next play.

 

RG #65 for Pike Central starts the fight. He holds down his man and starts punching.

 

Pike Centrals coaches just sprint out onto the field, presumably to try and break it up. But none of them stay back to control their bench. The result was the Pike Central bench just cleared out.

 

Breathitt's coaches did a great job of keeping their kids on the sideline. Probably have coached them before to never leave the sideline.

 

You can see #81 clearly leave the sideline for Breathitt and throw punches, he deserved his suspension.

 

#83 for Breathitt was the player that was reported to be held down and beaten with a helmet. He is playing safety on the left hash when the play starts. Near the end of the fight, several Pike Central players drag him off screen to the left. The next time you see him he is being helped back to the sideline by coaches.

 

Just as #83 gets dragged off screen, at the 1:13 mark, you can see a player for Pike Central run onto the field (left side of video) with his helmet in his hand and he starts swinging it as a weapon. Can't quite make out his number but it is in the 70s. He gets dragged off screen with the small group that is dragging #83. Speculation, but it looks likely that he was the culprit beating #83 with a helmet, if it did happen. Smoke and fire.

 

After the fight, at about the 2:40 mark, watch #5 for PCC on their sideline at the 45 yd line. A coach/manager comes up to him and they exchange a high 5. I first thought #5 had punched him, but after watching it, they were just congratulating each other.

 

Then at about the 3;05 point watch behind the down marker a PCC player has his helmet off and he is re-enacting the way the player was swinging his helmet as a weapon for some of his buddies. That's not condemning him, he may have been just showing them what happened, but it does lend credence to the fact that it did happen.

 

The saddest thing about the whole incident was watching the Pike Central parents in the stands. They were cheering during the whole thing. Not just yelling and pointing, but actually clapping and cheering the fight. Sad.

There better be a bunch of suspensions over this. In a separate game I know of an Assistant Coach who got suspended for cussing. I kid you not.

Watusi, bak to the "running of Belfry's offense", I know what motives have been discussed, but couldn't it be argued that Pike County Central was doing what another successful team is doing in an attempt to win a game? Now, if they were running the offense of an 0-10 team, that would be strange, but they were copying an offense of a great program that has much success.

Watusi thanks for posting the video, I couldn't figure out how to get the copy I have of it posted. I will say that I have seen a second video from a parent that was at the game that shows what happens off screen of this video and its best that its not posted, very ugly situation.

This comment isn't really fair or just in any way. I have seen worse situations at Jefferson county youth league games and in other urban situations across the state.

I'm a little disappointed. As previously stated, you can find people who act inappropriately everywhere, city, county, north, south, east, and west. I have been stereotyped most of my life for the area in which I live, and I find it no different then racism.
