If you are aware of Chapman's tenure at PC there are enough red flags that would make NKY fans claim Jim Matney as a Saint in comparison. Stretching back to the motives to why he was was hired in the first place, and the subsequent black marks ever since, there is little debate that Chapman will not be receiving any sportsmanship awards any time soon. Pike Central is currently already on KHSAA probation after receiving sanctions for playing illegal players. In fact, amidst rumors and conjecture during the off-season at one point it was thought that Chapman was returning to Breathitt to be an assistant.

 

I don't know what caused this Wrestlemania outbreak. Supposedly there are a lot of mysteries coming out of that game. PC is a notorious spread team and essentially the mirror image of Breathitt..yet for some unknown reason apparently they suddenly ran out of the flexbone (Belfry's primary offense) against Breathitt. When the brawl broke out apparently both teams shut off their cameras. PC also successfully converted a pair of on-side kicks despite being down by a hefty margin. All indications are that it started from frustrations, isolated incidents that arose during the game. By that point Breathitt had their 2nd string in and all reports are that the bobcats succesffuly kept their 1's out of harms way as PC did their best Spartacus: Gods of the Arena impersonation as Chapman was nowhere to be found.

 

Between Breathitt's coaching staff doing a great job (apparently) of keeping their starters off the field, the lack of video evidence, the general idea that PC was the aggressor, and the obvious chaos that ensued making it hard for officials to point fingers at specific players...I would expect Breathitt to have minimal to no suspensions. The Cox kid supposedly was injured as the result of the fight.

 

I was at the game and believe me, there were no players left on the sidelines for either team. Breathitts coaches were in in panic mode trying to get it stopped because I'm sure they were aware of the consequences but every single player from both sides was out in the middle of the field. It happened so quickly that I didn't see who started it. The only # I remember is #81 for Breathitt just flooring someone. It was a very ugly and dangerous situation.

According to their roster #81 on KHSAA for Breathitt would be a SR James Blomberg who had appears to have played in nearly every game.

Thank you. My family is from Breathitt County and although I don't always follow them closely I do try to know what is going on with the Bobcats to some extent.

 

I was thinking of Chapman's son being the former player. I remember him being a running back (I think). I do remember the KHSAA issues with Chapman, but I think I have always mistakenly thought that was the son.

Supposedly no. This is all subjective, but what has been said suggests that both teams flipped the switch on the recording once all heck broke loose. It could just be they were saving the material for a Pay Per View basis though .

 

Adding to the mystery is the fact apparently when game film was exchanged with the Belfry staff it was of this game. Noticeably absent from the film was the fight, as well as the play that Breathitt super star QB Trent left the game with a presumed arm injury.

Another player, Cox, was rumored to be enrolling at Pike Central this year but he ended up at Breathitt also. Not sure if any of that created any hard feelings among the players or not, but I could see it happening.

I think this isn't the same Cox that transferred to PC then to Breathitt. #83 appears to be the smaller WR/DB. He had an INT last year against Belfry and made 4 or 5 receptions..he was also the WR when Sani Warren had the huge strip of the football where he literally stole it out of the players' hands in open field.

Right, I didn't mean to give the impression that Ryan Cox #83 was the same player who bounced from PC to Breathitt this summer. That player was Justin Cox, former QB at Powell Co. He transferred to Pike Central and then transferred to Breathitt Co.

 

Ryan Cox #83 played last season for Breathitt and was a good athlete and receiver. I hope he is OK.

Sad to hear things like this take place, but boys will be boys.

I have 3 girls (God's funny joke on me) 16, 13, & 10. So far no "donnybrook's" have broken out on the softball fields after one of them have been hit. :lol:

The 4 players from Pike Central, and the one player from Breathitt (Blomberg #81) are now listed as suspended for 2 games.

 

If Breathitt moves on, this means Blomberg would not be available until the state championship game two weeks from now.

WOW....After what I witnessed, I don't know how any player from either team could be eligible this week. I don't have a dog in the fight (no pun intended) but only one player from Breathitt being suspended is an absolute crime. #81 absolutely deserved to be suspended but there were many more swinging like rusty gates out there. I guess the PCC players will set out the first 2 next season unless they were seniors and they got a freebee I guess.

Seniors would be punished in the next sport they played in their senior year.
