Don't understand this quote but, Miller has constantly had to get his points with multiple defenders. Thats the problem with being on a weak team. Everybody knows that he is going to take the shot. I have not seen any of bells players, this year, or in the last several years have anyone that every gathered the attention that Miller does. I don't think he is a point guard, even though he handles the ball a lot. He is a shooting guard who is hounded on every shot he takes.

Make no mistake, Proffitt is good but "if not for Walt Allen" and if not for a few more Proffitt would not get all the hype he gets. How do you think Proffitt & Miller would do if switched. I still believe Miller is the most talented PG in the 13th.

 

I totally agree...... basketball is a team game...... and if you play on a good team (especially a team who wins the big one at Rupp :sssh: ) then you get more hype....... but that doesnt take away from what he has done...... it only validates what he has done because he has done it against the best the state has to offer!

 

I dont think Proffitt playing on a great team should detract from his ability and his on the court accomplishments..... it only proves that if he is good enough to start at SL and excel there then he is most likely good enough to start anywhere in the state and would excel anywhere in the state!

 

If Proffitt and Miller switch, who knows that happens. That argument works both ways..... you could say that Miller doesnt do as much as SL because of the talent level there...... and you could say that Proffitt does way more at M'boro because of the lack of talent there. Or you could reverse it and say Miller stands out at SL because he has more talent surrounding him....... and Proffitt doesnt shine at M'boro because he doesnt have a great supporting crew. It works both ways and I think you cant look at the whole Proffitt vs Miller debate from that perspective.

 

I think you have to look at it like this...... If you had a basketball team, which player do you want leading your team into battle..... Proffitt or Miller?

 

Based on Proffitt's accomplishments and experience on the big stage..... I choose Proffitt. Miller is a great shooter, great ball handler, and great athlete..... but I want a leader who knows how to win, doesnt hurt my team, and plays clutch and the edge goes to Proffitt in those categories.

I agree, he isnt really a PG. As far as my quote goes..... it was directed toward 4chs whom answered my question about Miller's stats. I was just curious if his info was correct. When you are on a board like this alot of stats that are either a lil off or totally wrong get thrown around. I was just making sure he had a credible source and the KHSAA website works for me. :thumb:

I totally agree. If I need a leader to take my team into battle, I would take profit because that's what a good point guard does. But I want that great leader getting the ball to my best shooter, and that would be Miller.

 

It's really two different positions and its hard to compare.... which position does the team need to make it complete.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to take anything away from Proffitt. It's just my opinion that Miller is the most talented PG in the 13th...Nothing more than an opinion on talent. If put in the spot some other players are in, I think he would shine brighter than most.

This is the first year he has not played the point.

Everytime I have seen them play besides this year he has played the point. I remember when he was a Sophmore and he put on a show aganist Clay in the first round of the regional tournament.

Miller may not start at pg but in probably 99% of the games he's played in there has been several minutes when he was at the point. He can play one as good as the other anyway.

Miller is a great offensive player, but sure doesn't play much defense. I would take allen or proffitt over him.

Proffitt is heads and shoulders above the other PG's in the region. This is no slam against them as there are some VERY good guards in the area. However, he is just one of those special players that don't come around that often.
