Jim Schue Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Middlesboro was unconscious from outside -- S. Miller had 34 -- but NL was finally able to get control thanks to S. Allen (23) and B. Carson (24) being able to get to the hole and finish.
51513 Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 I bet this was a great game to watch, with possibly the 2 best PG's in the region. Good win by the Jags and I can't wait to see them and the Tigers go at it Friday night.
Jim Schue Posted January 18, 2006 Author Posted January 18, 2006 It was indeed a barn-burner. Middlesboro did have a shot inside of the final seconds that could've tied it, but NL did a good job making sure Miller didn't get the shot, forcing Daniel Griffin to take it instead. Nick Shannon's FTs with .5 to go iced it.

Miller plays the point some, but he's more of a wing.

I don't think Proffitt is better than Miller at the point. I heard that both teams made a lot of mental mistakes. Good Luck to both teams.

As far as the best 2 PG's in the region, Miller and Allen are both behind Proffitt from SL, although they are both great players. Newayz, I cant wait to watch NL and Clay go at it as well. Nice win for the Jags...... but they will have to pick it up against Clay if they want the win. M'boro isnt a bad team though when Miller is hitting and he obviously was.

Dont mean to take away from this thread and get off topic..... but (and I will end my comments at this): You are either badly mistaken, a big SL detractor, or a big M'boro fan because Proffitt, although not the big 3 point shooter like Miller, is head and shoulders above Miller and the rest of the PG's in this region. He won MVP of a tourney in Carolina this season featurning some great teams from across the nation. If not for Walt Allen, he would have been MVP of the state tourney last season as a sophomore. Dont even mention he was on the all state tourney team and will probably be up for Mr. Basketball his senior year. He runs his team better then anyone and knows how to win! If you think Miller is better then Proffitt then you..... well I will stop there.

I've watched Miller and Profitt play numerous times, and I think that Miller is the best offensive player in the region.

I guess we are all entitled to our opinion...... but I still dont see how, even if Miller is the best offensive player in the region (which that is debatable in and of itself) = him being the best PG in the region. The PG position requires alot more then just taking a bazillion shots and scoring alot of points. IMO the PG position is more about leadership, winning, playing clutch, and making your teammates better, and that is why Proffitt is the best IMO. But thats for a different thread and a different day. I dont even think Miller plays the PG position the majority of the time for M'boro. But newayz........ didnt we have this discussion at the start of the season, lol. Way to go Jags...... good luck against Clay!
southeast_bell Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Middlesboro took a huge hit when they lost Joe Mayes before the season started. Not only did we lose his 20.0+ ppg average now teams can focus more on Miller because the threat of Mayes from the outside is gone. And even with the double team and sometimes triple team Miller Is still putting up huge numbers. If I'm not mistaken he scored his 2000th career point in this game. Congrats to a GREAT players ,Great Job.:thumb:

Congrats to a GREAT players ,Great Job.:thumb: Correction. He scored his 2000th career point Jan 12th against Cawood. Middlesboro senior guard Stuart Miller (shown left in a December home matchup against Cumberland) pumped in 35 points in Thursday night's game at Cawood to crack the 2000 point career scoring barrier for his career. In spite of a well-played game by the Yellow Jackets, Cawood prevailed on a last-second three pointer for a 74-71 win. Miller leads the 13th Region in scoring with a 25 point per game average. His chase for the Kentucky state record for three point field goals continues. Needing 102 to set a new record at the beginning of the season, Miller has made 68 threes so far, leaving him 34 to go to set a new state standard. http://www.pinnaclesportsview.com/

Make no mistake, Proffitt is good but "if not for Walt Allen" and if not for a few more Proffitt would not get all the hype he gets. How do you think Proffitt & Miller would do if switched. I still believe Miller is the most talented PG in the 13th.
