Profitt, like Allen, is a wonderful high school player, but will not do anything in college because of his quickness. He will play somewhere small and should do well but i think he will struggle to score wherever he decides to go to school. I bet that if you put Profitt on Middlesboro's team, that he wouldnt score the way Miller does. Profitt is not a gifted scorer, but he is all around and does a little bit of everything. I seen him against Brentwood Academy and he struggled against the more athletic team and had trouble scoring.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to take anything away from Proffitt. It's just my opinion that Miller is the most talented PG in the 13th...Nothing more than an opinion on talent. If put in the spot some other players are in, I think he would shine brighter than most.

Argee or disagree this has got off the Mboro and North Laurel post, but lets all be realistic. Proffitt is a junior and the best absoultly the BEST point gaurd in the region and the way he leads his team maybe the best in the state. He is bigger, stronger, and arguably the most tallented between the two, but when Proffitt is on the floor he is always the point gaurd. And dont forget SL is the state champions and he was there point gaurd last year.

He's a VERY good shooter, I don't know if he can defend or not bcause I didn't see him play any defense, and when you have the freedon to shoot 30 times a game, you're going to get your points.

Look who profitt has around him. They are loaded. I bet that if he was on Middleboro's team he wouldnt average 15 a game because teams can focus on him and single him out and double team him. He is not a gifted scorer. He is not very quick but he handles it well and is strong. Miller puts up those numbers with double teams and everything because he knows how to score. Ty is a solid high school point guard and may very well win Mr. Basketball next year because they are in a cupcake region and he already has one ring. I think Walls at scott county is better than profitt and hes only a junior. the difference is that Walls gets his teammates involved like profitt plus he can shoot better than Profitt. I played at Scott County and have played against him several times and know he can play.

You have to be kidding. I will address each point you made:

 

If Proffitt continues to grow as a player the rest of this season, and next (I mean lets remember ppl, he still has one more year), he will be playing big time college basketball. It may not be Division 1A, but it will be big time ball! The kid is 6'3, has great size, handles the ball extremely well, makes great decisions, and despite what has been said can score!

 

Proffitt is a pretty gifted scorer..... he just doesnt have to score as much as some other kids because there are other gifted scorers on SL's team. I mean SL traveled to a tourney in Carolina where there were plenty of athletic teams and all he did was average somewhere around 20 points and bring back the tourney MVP. Im pretty sure he is probably SL's leading scorer, or at least top 3. As far as if Proffitt was on M'boro's team, you are probably right that he wouldnt score as much as Miller, but Proffitt also wouldnt shoot a billion times, take ill advised shots, and turn the ball over as much either, 3 things Miller does alot of. Against Brentwood every player for SL was off and Brentwood was the better team...... but I think it goes to show you Proffitt's ability when you are comparing his games against Brentwood and other great teams across this state to Miller's games against Knox Central and the such. If Proffitt was even able to play the entire game against teams like Knox Central its untelling how many points he would score. He puts up just as many points or similiar point totals against teams like Knox while playing basically a half of basketball. My biggest question in this whole debate would be could Miller do what he has done against the competition Proffitt has done it against even if he was on SL's team?...... and considering all that Miller has ever seen is pretty weak competition, I would say NO.

 

Believe me, Proffitt has done alot of great things against some pretty athletic teams..... just look at last season, the state tourney, and a few games this season. Im tired of hearing all this bull about SL's lack of athletic ability...... because that is what it is, bull. You dont do what they have done and be non athletic. Some ppl just dont like to admit that a team is better then another team or that a player is better then another player because of certain demographical statistics, and thats bull. SL may be a bunch of white boys from southeastern KY, but they are athletic and they WIN!

 

Proffitt may not be the best athlete, and he may play more fundamentally sound then alot of players..... but that doesnt mean he isnt a talented bball player or isnt gonna make a great college player, because he will.

 

I mean come on, we are comparing the starting PG for the defending state champs to the starting PG (or whatever position he plays) to a team that wont even get to .500. No offense...... but if anyone really thinks Miller is better then Proffitt then it just goes to show you that alot of ppl on this board are homers (whether it be for M'boro or the old 13th region) and refuse to recognize talent when it hits them right in the face!

Make no mistake, Proffitt is good but "if not for Walt Allen" and if not for a few more Proffitt would not get all the hype he gets. How do you think Proffitt & Miller would do if switched. I still believe Miller is the most talented PG in the 13th.

Saying that he is the most talented PG in the region is completely analogous to saying he is the best PG in the region, especially when you frame that statement in the context of a conversation about who is the better of the 2 PG's. If a kid is more talented at something it = that the kid is better at that something. If I'm more talented at singing then someone else it means I'm a better singer then that person.

 

Maybe you should be more clearer..... I think what you may have meant was Miller is the more talented overall player. But that couldnt be it because he isnt. He plays little defense and doesnt do alot in the assist column. He may be the more talented shooter though. I would probably agree there. But even that is up for debate that they are equally talented.

Proffitt may go to somewhere like Morehead, but Cumberland or Transy might be a better fit.

Im no more critical of Miller now then I ever was before. I have always said exactly the same thing..... Miller is an ubelievably talented shooter, a very good athlete, and a solid basketball player. However he plays little defense, takes ill advised shots, turns the ball over alot, and doesnt seem to hustle much unless its to get open for a shot.

 

I think its totally crazy to compare a player like that to a player like Proffitt who is possibly just as good a shooter, a little less athletic but much bigger and stronger, and not just a solid basketball player, but a great bball player. He plays defense very well, doesnt turn the ball over much at all, is very smart and methodical, and hustles his butt off even if its to get another player open or dish an assist.

 

Miller is a better shooter.

Proffitt is a better overall player and better PG.

That has always been my stance since day one!
