C. Matthews says glad hurricane hit.

Context is key.

IMO the reaction is overblown just like it was when the Senate candidate in Indiana said that even if a pregnancy results from rape he felt it was God's will.

Context. Context. Context. He clarified immediately what his point was. Yes , it was clumsy but he made his point clearly - just like the guy from Indiana.

We're so busy looking for something to complain about on the "other side" that we don't just say "well, poor way of stating it but I get what he was saying."

And you then complain about how divided we are.

If you want to eviscerate Chris Matthews, be my guest. He's not exactly the favorite son of the progressives.

Only clarified when he knew he screwed up and I doubt he was sorry he said it.

Clearly that is your opinion. How do you know this? I get it, his words were ridiculous and untimely but I think the statement was taken out of context.

He's an idiot for saying that.
Correction, he's an idiot....period.

I agree with what you are saying about context but I feel he is smart enough to know better than to make that statement.

Can't take much from what he said out of contex, he said he was glad the hurricane hit, regardless if for politics or not, he shouldn't have said it and it shouldn't have ever been in the contex to take out.

I'm sure the hundred that are dead and thousands homeless wouldn't see it that way.

I guess he is also glad the auto industry went belly up for Obama to give tax payers dollars too also.

The more I think about it and the fact that lives were lost I agree, he is a jackhole.

If I go back thru that thread on the Indiana candidate, will I find a post from you similar to this one? If so I congratulate you for being consistent.

Matthews is a goof but he will get a pass because of who he supports.

.

I started an entire thread on it.

I said that if you're a Christian then you believe what the candidate believed - however poorly-worded it was.

Dislike anything I post but you can never bang me for consistency.

Mathews is a turd but in this case it's more of a poor choice of words. Doesn't anyone know if he has apologized or not?

He opened his show last night with an apology. No excuses. Said it was stupid, insensitive and wrong. Also said he will think of something he can do to help make up for it.
