I found my son's 9th Region Freshman Tournament program from 2010 at Cov Cath this morning and was paging through checking out some of the rosters. I noticed several names who no longer are participating in HS Hoops. Here are some of the teams and some of the Sr's who I would expect to be on the rosters and play a role.

 

Beechwood- Max Nussbaum, Chase Maus,Mitch Mckenzie Gage Erdman is Not playing any longer- focused on football and questions surround Nussbaum playing this year. (13 on roster in 2010)

 

Boone County- Matt Melzer, Michael Warning, Tyler Cox. I may be missing a kid but All 3 lack Varsity experience. (13 on roster in 2010)

 

Conner- Brady Padgett, Austin Price ? (Blake Maines, Cam Fogle, Jared Kunkel- all of these guys no longer in program) (13 on roster in 2010)

 

Cooper- AJ Collins, Lou Maniacci, Tyler Morris, Drew Shelton. (12 on roster in 2010)

 

Cov Cath- Nick Frederick, Sawyer Pauly, Zach Tobler. No longer playing Brandon Ward, Cam Murphy, Kellen Jenkins ?, Dan Schumate. (14 on roster in 2010)

 

Dixie - Alex Milligan, Joe List. Names no longer in program- Burt Pouncy, Collin Justice, Zach Moo Young- All transferred out. Bob Muntis. (13 on roster in 2010) Head coach Rod Snapp- noteworthy.

 

Highands- Bailey Witte, Karl Hinkel, Jake Gronotte. Names no longer playing hoops- David Christian, Jac Collinsworth, Donovan McCoy. (10 on roster in 2010)

 

Holmes- Daquan Palmer, Chris Englemon, Rayshawn Coston, Carlos Mullins Evans, Dasean Peterson. They have kept their best 5 from that team intact from the looks of it. (14 on roster in 2010)

 

Holy Cross- Travis Gabbard. No longer playing Michael Hewitt, Blake Tiberi as far as I know. Several new additions to HC since this year, namely Antonio Campbell and Christian Mclendon both were playing Varsity for their respective teams that year. (11 on roster in 2010)

 

Newport Central Catholic- Michael Beuter, Nick Seibert, Colin Dupont, Brennan Devoto. No longer playing Dominic Pangallo, Nate Grosser. (13 on roster in 2010)

 

Ryle- Drew Mays, Mark Fussanegger. Is Pavy playing this year? injury riddled HS career. (12 on roster in 2010)

 

St Henry- Ben Hils, Michael Best, Mitchell Kuebbing, Zach Carr (injured), Darius Meiman (playing up JV at time) (12 on roster in 2010)

 

Scott- Eric Pouncy, Kevin Jehn, Nick Jackson, Josh Felts, Tyler Buckner, Pete Ohmer, Travis Clary,. Many kids have stayed in the program at Scott. Strong Sr class should bode well this year.

 

Simon Kenton- Riley Barnes, Brandon Yanke, Jared Swanson and Andrew Sampson I believe were dressing JV only. No longer in program- Drew Reckner. (13 on roster in 2010)

 

Bishop Brossart- Ben Uebel, Justin Saunders- Played JV that year. No longer playing most notably Tanner Norton who was leading scorer that year. (11 on roster in 2010)

 

 

Interesting to see what teams will have solid Sr. Leadership this year and if they were in the program since Frosh year.

Brandon Ward, injured his knee last year in the Scott County Toyota Classic and missed the rest of the year in basketball and the entire Baseball season. Best chance at College is baseball and he is working hard at it everyday in the batting cage. Honestly could be the come back player of the year in the 9th.

 

Dan Schumate only going to play baseball, also working hard in the cage but working on his pitching. Dan is going to surprise some this season.

 

Cam Murphy didn't play last year at all and to the best of my knowledge is not playing any sport.

 

Kellen Jenkins I know he isn't playing this year but to the best of my knowledge isn't playing anything.

Very interesting list. It is fun to see the kids that have stuck with the programs for the entire four years. So many things could affect why there aren't more. Anything from injuries, focusing on another sport, relocating or something else. Thanks for posting the list.

Ayers and Monson also played JV for SK as a freshman. Barnes, Yankee, Reckner, and Trevor Montgomery played freshman ball.

Kellen Jenkins I know he isn't playing this year but to the best of my knowledge isn't playing anything.

 

It's a shame Kellen isn't playing, the kid can ball.

Scott is an impressive band of brothers with 7 guys together since frosh year.

Tibieri is playing this year for Holy Cross. Neither he nor Hewitt played last year, Hewitt is not playing this year as well.

 

Also Nate Cox and Will Knochelman from the 2010 Freshman team are still around.

And a Governor's Scholar! One conversation with personable and polite Adam, and you will be so impressed with him.

 

Correct indeed and I have know him for years and years!

 

I used to kid Adam that unless he scored a goal, he had to cut my grass and then I would tell his teammates in front of him, not to pass him the ball, as my grass needed cutting.

 

Have caught and passed back to him, PK after PK this year from him and I was deeply moved when he mentioned me by name for helping him on his senior football day bio!

 

Been trying to get him to go to Murray State but I believe UofL is in his plans. Wherever he goes, that university gets an outstanding young man.

Carlos Mullins-Evans is no longer with Holmes. I could be wrong, but I don't believe he is enrolled there right now.....

So why did the 4 guys you pointed out that played fall sports not play basketball? I have been told by several people that Mike Listerman did not go for it and that Ruthsatz is pretty much the same way. Is that accurate?
