YEs they have, but I bet a lot of that had to do with camps etc. that players have attended. If the players didn't attend camps and combines etc. there would be zero visits to hebron this year. I don't think it's right but unfortunately that is the atmosphere of recruiting anymore.

Colleges came to Hebron that were never seen this summer by any Conner player.

I said it's not right in the fact that you have to spend a lot of money to et your kid to camps and combines etc. It wasn't anything against the players that do or anything or the way colleges recruit these days, it's just the way the system works these days. Colleges don't have the time or funds to go to every game in the country etc. and combines and camps are the best way to see a lot of the kids. That is a fact. Not all coaches and recruiters that go watch games on friday nights are at the camps, but they do talk to one another and they do get lists etc. of combine and camp attendees and are able to know about them long before many even see them in person.

 

That is what I meant when I said it may not be right but it is the way it is. As I said in my earlier posts there are a lot of athletes that don't even get seen because of many reasons. 1. being their families can't afford the camps and combines. 2. multi sport athletes may not be able to attend many camps at all due to the other sport going on the same time the camps etc. are taking place. There are many factors that keep a lot of athletes from being able to showcase themselves that are beyond anything they can help.

I'm speaking on behalf of what I personally experienced so far. My son is a much better athlete than I ever was (and I had a athletic scholarship) but because of the multiple sports he plays he has not been able to attend the camps to get him noticed. He's played varsity baseball since he was a freshman and started Varsity Football since his sophomore year, yet has only been able to attend 1 camp and that was at James Madison University last year where he has been contacted by their offensive coach, yet that is the only camp he's been able to attend. Baseball he's been asked to multiple camps but could not go to them due to football and vice versa. Without getting the exposure at camps and combines etc. your chances of landing a nice offer is very limited.

 

It's nothing against how colleges recruit, it's just a fact of life in today's athletics.

Where did I bad mouth any Conner players? Wow RE, you may need to read a bit more of my posts. I have already made several posts just this morning about how great I thought Fogle etc. was, as one of the best players in the area period.

I'm simply stating facts, and I never once said anything negative about any Conner player, please show me where I have. I was talking about CC's QB and what he needs to do to get noticed, and that iis attend camps etc. Are you saying that isn't the route to go?

You have to remember that you can attend on DI camp, but be seen by many DI scouts or assistant coaches that will attend and assist at that main camp. The camp is like an opportunity to network your talent to other schools.

Without getting the exposure at camps and combines etc. your chances of landing a nice offer is very limited.

Your chances of landing a nice offer are pretty limited regardless of your means and ability to go to camps. You always read the stories about kids who have been noticed at camps and gotten offers. What you don't read about are the number of kids that attend these camps and get nothing out of it. Trust me, the second group is much larger than the first. Camps help, don't get me wrong. But if you can play, and your physically have the tools, they will find you. Just simply dragging your kids to camps and spending big money does not get you offers. Your better off getting tutoring and working on getting better grades...that's the best way to get into college.

Most of the top camps/combines in the country are free of charge. I can tell you have no idea about the way football recruiting is now a days.

I didn't say that is the only way to get offers etc. What I said is these days it's very hard to get noticed without attending camps.

Talking about the question the OP originally asked, and my suggestion would be to get Durham to several camps and combines to get his name out there.

Without that it is a much steeper up hill climb.

"Official Visits"

Many people have stated it. Colleges have a pretty defined template of size and speed that they are looking for in most positions. Occasionally you will have a maverick recruiter/coach who will stick his neck out and go after a player not in the mold. Some coaches save 2 or 3 spots out of an average of 22 scholly's a year (D1 ) for "football" players. The other thing that comes into play is the "projection" factor. I have heard several recruiters talk about seeing what a player will be 2 or 3 years down the road, not what they are today.

 

It's not just D1 and D1 aa that use a template. However at the DII, NAIA and DIII levels the cost factor comes into play. Very few players at DII and NAIA schools get full football rides out of HS. Most receive a combination of Football, Academic and other Grant in aid. Quite often kids not in the mold are included because they are either willing to pay or they get enough non-football money to make it worth the "risk" by the school.

 

In the case of T Durham, it's not uncommon for the D2's and NAIA schools not to offer him until after their season ends. Recognize at these schools they often wait to see who "falls through cracks" from D1 and D1aa before truly offering a package. Even the D1 -aa like EKU and Murray St. will wait until pretty late in the game to sign players.

 

It's frustrating to watch quality players not get a chance because their "measurables" don't stack up. Height to me is the most frustrating one, and the one that most often is shown to be wrong. (Ed Reed, Drew Brees, Pac-man Jones etc)

 

My guess with Durham is that he ends up at a D1aa school like EKU or Murray St.

What SK kids are getting offers and to where?

 

I know Swanson. Huesman, Bowling and Racke have been all over the place. Only smaller schools that I know of. Huesman is visiting Ohio Dominican tomorrow. A couple of them plus a few Jrs have been to Mt. St Joe's, Thomas More, Hanover, Campbellsville. I know Georgetown, Pike ville and Lindsey Wilson are in the near future.
