Question For Andy Griffith Show Fans

I saw a question posted on The Andy Griffith Show Facebook page: Who would play Andy in a modern day Andy Griffith?

 

First of all, let's just all agree that remaking this show would be an awful idea. But I thought the question was interesting, as I am a huge fan of the show. There was only one actor that came to my mind, but I'm curious as to what others might think before I offer my suggestion. Also curious to see if anyone else is thinking like I am.

He has amazed me in his development as an actor. Thought he would be a goofball type of actor when he was on Fresh Prince. Thought maybe he would be just an action star after Independence Day. But he has made himself into one of the finest actors on the planet.

 

Not sure about Andy Griffith though.
