Killing off characters :lol:. Any of you guys watch Game of Thrones?

It's not like a slaughter fest but more of unexpected "did they really just kill that character off the show" type deal.

I can tell you that I had no care that Andrea was eliminated. I think she had replaced Lori as the most despised character. (At least for me).

 

That very well may be true, but the point I was trying to make was this...if you have no perspective into a certain character, their absence will not be missed. I mean, how many of the ones the governor gunned down are we talking about? I can tell you...none. So, 20-some people get gunned down, and it doesn't even flicker an emotion (other than the fact that the governor has gone off the deep end). But, you turn around and kill 1/4 of that number, but have it be Rick, Daryl, Glenn, Maggie and Andrea...and suddenly people are coming out of the woodwork asking "What in the heck just happened?!?"

 

Perhaps I shouldn't have used the word "care". Maybe "know" or "understand" would have been better words. That's why I think you'll have to get to know Tyreese better in the future to get the same type of reaction (if he gets killed) as when T-Dog died. I'm not saying you can't take out a central character every now and then. But, you can't replace the whole ensemble at once, and still expect people (viewers) to want to watch the next set of people as much as they watched the previous set. I mean, MASH lost Trapper, Frank, Henry and Radar at some point in time...but not all at once.

I avoided this thread for the past couple days until I could watch the episode last night.

The episode was so-so I just hate that we have 6 months to wait for new episodes.

'The Walking Dead' Season 4: Rick Struggles With Carl, More Zombie Threats And The Governor

 

^ This article highlights two things we should anticipate for next season:

 

1) Rick trying to harness Carl's dark side. Not a surprise there. The way Carl blew him off in the finale was a bit surprising, along with killing the teenager from Woodbury. According to Kirkman in one interview, Rick "has his work cut out" with Carl in Season 4.

 

2) Walkers become more of a threat. This article says the show's writers/creators have felt like the zombies have become a "manageable threat" & they want to scale that back quite a bit. That interests me, because the comics certainly present the view that corrupt humans are far more dangerous than the walkers in the zombie apocalypse. I thought the show was headed that way as well, so it'll be interesting to see how they push rewind, so to speak.

 

In that interview with Kirkman that I read, he also says that "the world opens up" in Season 4. Says the prison will still be a primary setting, but will be used in a way that surprises viewers. I don't know what to make of that.

 

October is a long way away.

Tyreese, Sasha, & Beth will all be full-time characters in Season 4.

Kirkman has also said that they knew The Governor would survive into Season 4 before the role was even cast.

Some casting news, as Lawrence Gilliard, Jr. is believed to be very close to being cast to play a character known as "Roy Stark." "Roy Stark" is widely considered a fake character name, as the show's creators gave false names to new characters in previous seasons. Some have said "Roy Stark" could be Abraham from the comics because he has a military background.

 

If Gilliard, Jr. is a new cast member, he will rejoin Chad Coleman (Tyreese), since both of them worked together on The Wire. Gilliard, Jr. is pictured below:
