Toothpick
Bottom line is that the Bengals are a little above average team and the Dolphins are as well. Miami is 2 plays away from being 4-1 after today and they have improved weekly. The young qb gets better andthey will be a pretty good team granted not great but above average. The Dolphins will likely finish above 500 this year in my opinion so it's not as it seems when looking at their record
HammerTime
Weeden and Tannehill had the best games of their careers (Rating wise) vs the Bengals. Tells you all you need to know about their D.
futurecoach
Weeden and Tannehill had the best games of their careers (Rating wise) vs the Bengals. Tells you all you need to know about their D. He had a good rating how today's game definitely was not on the defense. They held that team to 17 points, a week after they tore up a pretty good Cardinals defense and Tannehill throwing for lots of yards. Today the defense played good enough for them to win, but the offense laid an egg.
futurecoach
Haven't beaten a good team and now lost to a bad team. No reason to think they are good until they actually beat someone worth talking about. Very bad game for Dalton. Pathetic performance. I agree with HT. Until they beat a good team, there is not one reason to think the Bengals are anything but mediocre. The new rallying cry, " hey, it's better than being 2-14." I agree its not like I can make an argument against that. In the NFL teams do lose to teams they are not suppose to just like Green Bay did today too, and this is the first time the Bengals have done that in two years. However this year they have now lost to a team they were not suppose to, and haven't beaten a good team this year. They will have chances to do that, however until then you all are defintely right. futurecoach
This loss is on the whole offense Dalton, Gruden, and even Marvin Lewis. Kevin Coyle out game planned Gruden this week, and was one step ahead the whole time. Dalton was missing throws, the line was allowing pressure in his face, no running game. Then not going for it on 4th down and 5 on the second to last drive. I understand what Marvin was thinking there, however the offense was struggling all game but did have some momentum at that time. Then even if they didn't get it, they did still have the timeouts. I know I was booing the decision before we even missed the field goal. So I would have liked to have seen him go for it. Marvin Lewis the last two years has become more aggressive on his decisions, and has been successful. Today he went back to his conservative mindset and it didn't work. The one bright side of today is that it seems like the Bengals are actually starting to win challenges this year (knock on wood) even though it still didn't matter in the end. SSC
Dalton was absolutely terrible today. First time in his career. Marvin can't count, 5 minus 2 is 3. Have to go for 2. Nugent has to make a 41 yard FG every single time.

Stupid, Dalton should have stayed on the field and demanded they go for 2 but he was too busy running over to the sideline celebrating. Total lack of Football IQ in that situation and I put that on everyone. What does 1 pt give you? Nothing but being down 4 I tell you. Duh
SSC
Indeed, not going for two was the mistake. Sometimes I wonder how much football knowledge or lack of , is on that sideline. You absolutely positively have to go for 2. I'm shocked how dumb Marvin still is about stuff like that. Im also anxiously awaiting future coaches 10 thousand word response to why the Gals are still good even though they lost to Ryan Tannehill at home. NEERFAN
Bad loss for a team set up nicely by their schedule. The lack of a running game is alarming. Scott added some juice but the guy flat can't stay healthy.
futurecoach
Uh oh buddy. Still a good team? Right now I can't say they are. The team they lost to very easily could be 4 and 1 right now, however they weren't and the Bengals should have won. The Bengals were a good team last year, however at the moment I can't make an argument to say that they are this year. Things change every season, and teams have to go out and prove it again. So as Hammertime said the Bengals have to go out and prove that they can beat a good team, now after finally losing to a team they should have beaten. Good teams lose to teams they should beat, however they make it up by winning a game that maybe they shouldn't. So now we have to see if the Bengals can do that. They will have their chances though. So no argument from me, they have to go get it done.

Well if you looked at all before you even posted I had a agreed with Hammertime and Mal about them not being a good team right now. Which they weren't even as big of post as usual, so maybe you should have looked before you decided to post. There is no argument for me on this years current team, we can still argue last year. However this year you won't have an argument from me at this point, because I only will argue it if I believed it. I believe they can be this year, but they have to go show it. So right now I can't disagree. Edited October 8, 2012 by futurecoach

You won't find me defending him, absolutely stupid game management. I was giving him a pass on not going for 2 at the time. However since he decided not to go for two at that time, then you have to be aggressive and go for it when they were on the 27 on that 4th and 5. Instead he went back to his old self on that and went back to being conservative. Marvin last year and the first 4 games this year was more aggressive and it paid off, today he went back to his oldself and we seen what happened. Just horrible.
