Did a ship sink in Union tonight?

That is an easy choice IMO - you keep Kuntz at QB. Neither of those guys had ever started a varsity game at QB, right? Did they have any experience at QB? If not, easy decision to keep Kuntz at QB.

Swanson has experience and even started a game at QB.

How do you play for next year in high school?

You are already on the issue, you give juniors and sophomores more playing time.

If I was Ryle I would start developing a young QB.

Then it is a tougher choice and you have to decide what Sawnson was going to be for your team as a senior. If you don't want him at QB and think he is better in another position, then you stick with Kuntz.

The point I am trying to make is this. You really can't "play for next year" in high school. Seniors who should start, need to start. If they aren't better than the younger player, they shouldn't start anyway.

The year SK made it to state they benched Bustle the starting QB and moved him to TE in the middle of the season and let Lawrence start it all worked out pretty good. Ryle should make changes.

Ryle's offense is three yards and a cloud of pellets.

:D:clap:

And Lawrence was obviously the better QB even then. If Ryle has a young QB that is as good or better than Davis, then they should play him. If the young QB is just as good and Davis would improve another position if you move him there, then they should do that. But that really isn't playing for next year. That is making the team better right now.

That is exactly what Cooper did last year. They played mostly Juinors and Sophomores last year and were able to win district last year with that philosophy. Thhey only lost 3 starters to graduation last year. Now they also didn't just start sopphomores and juniors in front of seniors just to do that, they actually had very tallented players in those classes last year and this year it is paying huge dividends. UUnfortunatly it doesn't happen every year.

Cooper is very strong when it comes to skill positions, they although people outside thhe program may not know it because the paper only talks mainly about 2-3 playerss every week, the truth is they are pretty loaded offensively and I would put thheir recieving corp against any team in NKY, and each week it's been someone else stepping up.

But as I said, this doesn't work every year, next year should be a down year for the program as they will be losing a ton of players to graduation, 16 I believe.

So playing sophomores and juniors is great to prepare for the future, but it is realisticcally a short term fix and you also have to have the athletes to be able to do tthat in the first place.

You made my point Hellbird. If your team is playing just a few seniors, it doesn't mean they are playing for the future. If the juniors and sophomores are the most talented players then they should play. Cooper played their best players last year. It just happens that their best players were mostly juniors and sophomores.

And Lawrence was obviously the better QB even then. If Ryle has a young QB that is as good or better than Davis, then they should play him. If the young QB is just as good and Davis would improve another position if you move him there, then they should do that. But that really isn't playing for next year. I made a post last week about this and got bashed. I know Davis is a great athlete, just not a great QB. I think he would do the team so much better if they had him playing WR.

When you face a team that doesn't have a great passing QB they become too one dimensional and unless you have a Shaun Alexander running the ball for you, you are pretty easy to stop. That is Ryle's problem this year. They have the O-line to be very dangerous if they weren't so one dimensional in my opinon. I will always remember the very first offensive play they had against Cooper this year. It was a pass play and Ryle's O-line gave them a perfect pocket and all the time in the world to throw, but ended up being an incomplete pass that wasn't close and from then on Cooper adjusted and played their defense to force Ryle with the pass if they could do it and concentrated on stopping their running game and it wasn't close the rest of the game.

Davis has the speed to be a great WR, don't know if he has thee hands but I heard he was being looked at by some schools as a WR so I'm sure he has shown them something in the camps he's attended as a reciever. That is just my opionion, i could be wrrong big time about Davis, but I just think he'd be more of a threat as a receiver than a QB on a team you know will be running most of the time.

Now as you said it wouldn't be preparing them for next year but only be a fix for this year. Actually it would be preparing them for next year if the other QB wasn't a senior this year. Davis I believe is a senior so they would also be preparing for next year with a QB that will probably be starting next year.

What is concerning to me is how bad is Columbus DeSales. At one time to me in the last 10 years, I thought the Stallions program was similar to a Cincinnati Elder. What happened?

After the first district game? You play the best players period. The district schedule has just begun. Are you suggesting to throw in the towell? Ryle can still win this district or get a favorable seed in playoffs.

Maybe SK is that much better than everyone else!

Ryle has a bunch of quality young men and coaches that care and love their players. You man up after a loss, congratulate the opponent and accept responsibility as players and coaches for not getting the job done. Then live to fight another day. Understand that SK has been on the short end of the stick the vast majority of times they play the Raiders. Congrats to the Neers on the victory and the ship stands proud. Go Raiders.

This yr's Ryle SR's beat Highlands when they were Freshman Just goes to show you how much better some coaches are at not only developing talent but also keeping kids interested.
