Good win for The Ads...

Another close loss for the Redhounds. I know Hunter Grubb had a TD punt return for Corbin.

Too many offensive penalties continue to hurt the Hounds. Also had a couple of empty trips into the redzone, one that ended in a turnover, something that has occurred in all three close losses. They keep improving offensively though and have come a long ways from their first game to this game.

Danville is off to a pretty good start this season. They are 3-1 with a tough loss to 6A Simon Kenton. Ads looking pretty good...

Corbin has been good defensively this year, with the exception of giving up big plays . The defense has yielded 11 TDs on the year with 7 of them being for 60+ yards.

 

Their offense has been a work in progress having implemented a new system with an inexperienced QB running it, add in starting 3 sophomores and the results have been inconsistent. The last couple of weeks, the line has controlled the trenches and Corbin has been able to keep the ball for long periods of time, but still are having penalty problems(unofficialy 11 procedure penalties last night)and finishing in the red zone. I have not seen the stats from last night , but they outgained Tates Creek on the ground last week by well over 2-1 margin.

 

Danville could have been having a hangover from last week as well, not sure.

A little of both. Corbin played hard and showed more emotion. The Ads were not there mentally except for the start of the 3rd qtr. A lot of flags in this game so it was difficult for either team to get a good rhythm going.

 

Corbin has a good passing game and some solid runners. If they can get a bit more disciplined (motion penalties killed them) the Redhounds can make some noise this season. The Ads have to get back to the mental focus they had last week against Boyle. Not the best effort by far but winning the game is always a good thing.

Danville deffinatly didn't play with the same emotion they had against Boyle, but won anyway. Corbin came out ready to play. They are a better team then their record shows.

Just curious. What kind of history does Someset and Corbin have playing each other?

They don't like each other very much...don't know the records. Corbin won the last couple but over the years it's been a back and forth rivalry. When I was in school Somerset seemed to beat Corbin more often than not...
