September 5, 201214 yr Author Simple question. I gave you multiple answers. Clyde, we know it's not Obama's doing. Relax.
September 5, 201214 yr I would assign the debt number to the increase to it from the time President Obama came in office with a Democratic controlled senate and congress. Obama, Clyde and the Dems want to have it both ways. It doesn't work that way. . How much do you think that might be?
September 5, 201214 yr I gave you multiple answers. Clyde, we know it's not Obama's doing. Relax. Classic MC response. Make a big generalization and then run and hide when someone challenges him.
September 5, 201214 yr Author Serious answer. When we spent and continue to spend money we didn't or don't have.
September 5, 201214 yr Author Classic MC response. Make a big generalization and then run and hide when someone challenges him. So we don't have $16 trillion in debt? Is it a fact or not? Simple yes or no will do.
September 5, 201214 yr Serious answer. When we spent and continue to spend money we didn't or don't have. So who are you upset with then?
September 5, 201214 yr So we don't have $16 trillion in debt? Is it a fact or not? Simple yes or no will do. Never was a question.
September 5, 201214 yr Author So who are you upset with then? You, just kidding. I think Bush put us on the path and we continue down it today.
September 5, 201214 yr You, just kidding. I think Bush put us on the path and we continue down it today. Heck, Reagan put us on a bad path as well in regards to debt, right?
September 5, 201214 yr Author Heck, Reagan put us on a bad path as well in regards to debt, right? And Lydon Johnson raided the Social Security Trust fund and FDR did some damage along the way. Forward, Clyde, Forward!
September 5, 201214 yr How much do you think that might be? I will try to look it up, but those two years can be attributed to nobody but Obama and the Democrats...debt increased significantly during this time. My question for you is what has Obama done well?
September 5, 201214 yr Author This isn't a party thing, it's a government spending thing. Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Bush 2, Obama, big spenders. Reagen, Bush 1, Clinton not so much so. The results speak for themselves.
September 5, 201214 yr Clyde-here is as best as I could do for you in limited time, and also trying to be fair showing both sides.... During the presidency of George W. Bush, debt held by the public increased from $3,339 billion in September 2001 to $6,369 billion by the end of 2008,[4][19] In the aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis, debt held by the public increased to $11.12 trillion by the end of July 2012 under the presidency of Barack Obama.[20][4]
September 5, 201214 yr Which policies and how? The stimulus was a half hearted effort. I'd argue it should have been much bigger and we'd be a whole lot farther along in this recovery.

That defies economic logic. CBPP says that Bush tax cuts and two wars represent 50% of the debt we will owe in 2019. HALF! You can't look at it in a linear fashion ie President Bush left here and President Obama started here. The only way that would be true is IF on Jan 20, 2008 all of the spending and revenue that was created prior to that date was wiped out and we started over.
