I could not care less about Romney's taxes. I want to hear someone who has some realistic solutions to the problems this country is facing. Politicians who have no plan result to tearing down their opponent because they have nothing better to offer.....

 

I had hopes that Obama would be a leader who could bring the country together and help steer us on the path to financial stability........... and that has not proven to be true at this point.

 

Our last GOP VP had serious ties to the Defense industry and he ended up pushing an agenda that was very favorable to that industry. If there is no transparency as a candidate, how can we expect transparency as President??????

I agree that he knew what he was doing, but I think Reid was trying incite anger about the state of the tax system, not accuse him of cheating on his taxes. I'm sure Reid is furious about what he perceives as loopholes that allow the supremely wealthy to pay in a lower percentage of their income than many other Americans.

 

Whatever his intent, I'm about done with this story now. What's next in this horrible election cycle?

I think Reid didn't really care how anyone you took it as long as in the end you were mad at Romney. If you came away thinking Romney cheated great, if you came away angery about the tax system and the uber rich great. Either way made Romney look bad. That's all Reid cared about. I personally think he was tilting towards Romney cheated somehow. Why else would he make the comment about Romney not being able to clear confirmation for a cabinet position.

 

If Reid is furious about what he perceives as loopholes he is welcome to do something about it. Let's also quit with the rhetoric that the Rich pay a lower percentage then many other Americans. The Rich are still paying a higher percentage even with the loopholes.

I don't think that Candidate Romney has anything illegal to hide. After all, tax fraud would in all likelihood disqualify him for meeting POTUS requirements.

 

What I do believe is that Team Romney has made a conscious decision that it would be more harmful to the campaign to release additional records than to stand pat. And I believe that this decision is based on "court of public opinion" stuff.

Mrs Romney was on NBC and said "it would be used against us" if we released more.

The Gov said today that he's never paid "less than 13% in any of those 10 years."

It's a sad state of affairs in the country when anyone would be demonized for "only" paying 13% of their income in federal income tax.

I don't think most took it as illegal actions on the Governor's part.

IMO he fell right into the trap that Sen Reid laid and his campaign staff failed him.

 

I think MANY sided with him in this debate. He shouldn't have responded in any way other than how he has. His base wasn't mad. The far left wasn't voting for him any way. Now he gives someone on the other side (campaign, PAC, surrogates) ammo for saying "he's not like us" which is already a big challenge for him especially with going with another "white guy" on the ticket.

He said he has not paid taxes in 10 years which is criminal activity. That is pretty cut-and-dry. Not sure what we read differently.
