This may become the most interesting class in the state this year. More question marks in this class than any other IMO.

My thoughts: I think the top 2 are probably correct until someone from 2A can knock off the NKY Catholic schools. I don't think Glasgow is a top 10 team this year. Danville will be much improved and should be in the top 5. This could be Somerset's year if the offense develops.

I agree. Hard to get a feel for this class. This could be an interesting year in 2A.

I think Somerset should be in the top 5 if not the top 3. However, with only 8 first place votes listed it doesn't look like there were many coaches that turned in a ballot.

Somerset should be in top 3, What a Joke to have them at #7, I guess time will tell.

Pre-season polls are good for discussion and not much else...I'm more interested in the last poll.

I can see where the lack of history of wins against NCC has placed them in front of HC. I can also see why they are both one and two. But these are preseason, everyone will get a chance to prove their worth. Not a team listed on here has a win so how does one figure they should be somewhere else. You may want to say we will be instead of we should be.

IMO Holy Cross returns enough talent from a state championship team they should be in the #1 spot with NewCath at 2. They are the two bast AA teams in the state. It would be fun in 10 years or so if HC can get a few more wins vs the Breds to actually turn the game into a rivalry, 2 wins in 20 tries doesnt equal a rivalry but i hope it can become a big one in the future.

Holy Cross is an interesting team to me. I believe Kyle Fuller was 70% of the reason for their success last year. If I were choosing one player who meant more to a top level team's success last year than any other player, it just may be Kyle Fuller. Without Fuller last year, the New Cath game would not have been close IMO.

Personally, I have no problem with NCC being ranked ahead of HC prior to the first game. I think the great majority of us know that none of the rankings matter much until after the clock goes 0:00 on the night of 10/18. My concern is that HC will spend too much time reading their press clippings. Last year's team was very motivated to finish strong. They were hungry. Fuller's value was in his leadership on the practice field and in the locker room as well as on the playing field. Who will keep the team focused this year? Which set of seniors will step up to remind the younger players of the goals made at the beginning of the year? Repeating as champions is never easy in any sport. I'm willing to bet NCC is not reading the reviews as much and instead are sharpening the chips on their shoulders. After Dayton, HC's schedule turns brutal with 3 very tough games (Cooper, Conner, and Beechwood). We should know early where the mindset of HC is for 2012.

Last year's team was absolutely embarrassed by Beechwood. That helps to slap reality back into a team. I hope that NCC gets over its early injuries. Brady Thacker is a huge part of this team and was certainly missed at the end of the year last year. Hopefully he recovers from his concussion and that is the extent of injuries that he gets this year.

I would agree with your statement about the Beechwood game. Because of the state championship, that seems so long ago. But the fact remains - Beechwood has been a mental as well a physical hurdle for Holy Cross every year.
