I think this scrimmage can tell us a good amount about each team.

 

For Conner, if they are going to compete for the 5A title they should handle Beechwood.

 

For Beechwood, last year was the year everyone pointed to and we are all wondering how the Tigers will be in 2012. A strong showing against 5A contender Conner tells us it should come down to the end again with Mayfield making the trip to Fort Mitchell this year.

 

And like Voice says, you guys need to roll with uk#1fan and stay away from the personal attacks.

Here is how I look at this scrimmage like all scrimmages - both teams will be better in the season than what we will see in the scrimmage. That is why you have scrimmages. You find out where you are strong, where you are weak, who can play and who can't, and you get better. The score is only a slight indication of a team's potential.

I don't want to turn this into a Highlands thread but I remember a couple of years where Highlands and Male really went at it in a scrimmage and in those cases I would say the score was a much stronger indication.

If there are starting positions that are still to be determined, the competition can be very intense. I would say the primary purpose of scrimmaging is player evaluation. Secondary would be execution on both sides of the ball.

Highlands goes at it differently when scrimmaging T last year and Male the year you referenced. They're trying to make a statement to the rest of the state. That's not the case in 99.9% of the scrimmages.

We try to win our scrimmage games but not at all costs. We will not take a chance on a player who is banged up and we will work on different areas. Last year we use scrimmage game to work on the Wildcat, somthing we did not use again til later in the year and we did so using different personnel looking for the right fit. It ended up being Jackson though that is not who we were planning on using and we learned that from scrimmages.

Point I am trying to make is that I think most teams try to win their scrimmage games but work on things and use them to see who is going to start where in cases where it is up for grabs. I bet Bw and C are going to do the same.

Speaking of this scrimmage, I will be curious to hear if Bw uses any of their new found Wildcat and if they are going to make concerted effeort to pass a little more despite having several studs in the backfield. You Tigers give me a report

Both teams will use this to find strengths and weakness's. I'm more interested in how BW does than Conner. I believe from what I have heard about BW is that there are a lot of question marks going into the season. I can guess BW's main strengths but there are probably some unproven players that need to prove themselves and this is their 1st chance.
