Why does Trinity stay in KHSAA?

Featured Replies

Teams coposed of 50% rural or minority poverty can't compete with schools composed of sons of NFL Hall of Famers. Location, location, location!

Then please explain Louisville Central High School and their success with state championships. I do not know Central's minority poverty rate but I would feel safe saying it is among the tops in the State.

Anybody can win with superior talent!

Really? So the quality of coaching plays zero role in determining the success of a team. Heck then, as a taxpayer, I think we should pay coaches even less since it doesn't matter if we hire a good coach or a lousy one. Any coach can do no better or no worse than the talent on the team allows.

Sorry, but I think you are way undervaluing the importance of quality coaching when you state anyone one can with with talent.

Some lawyers are better than others. Some CPAs are better than others. Some teachers are better than others. Some machine operators are better than others. And some coaches are better than others. A better coach with less talent will often beat a team with a poor coach with better talent. As a 54 year old that has followed high school football very closely for a long time, I've seen it happen over and over again.

Furthermore, really good coaching staffs develop talent. They turn below average players into average players; average players into good players; and good players into very good players. I've seen way too many programs get turned around in a short period of time right after a coaching change. That wasn't caused by the natural talent in the players just changing on its own. The talent was improved by the new and better coaches.

I have too much respect for the coaching profession to think that natural talent in and of itself determines what teams win and what teams lose.

I believe that Beatty and his coaching staff could be wildly successful at a public school.

Then don't post small minded hyperbole if you are unaware of the true facts. I mean why not just make claims to the tune of...

"Trinity wouldn't be nearly as successful if they weren't full of boys that are the spawn of Zeus, Poseidon and Ares. I mean how can we, common human beings with little to no deified blood running in our veins, expect to compete with that? They need to start playing their games against the Satyrs if they want a fair game. It isn't fair that the mothers of our players weren't seduced by Greek deities."

Or something like..

"If Trinity is going to keep running their illicit cloning experiments on NFL greats, why do they still play in the KHSAA? I mean it isn't fair for those of us who have naturally birthed and raised players on our teams."

Or how about...

"PepRock could fly across the country if he spouted wings out of his **censored**"

As to the financial situation of students at Trinity, be they athletes or otherwise, that is private information for the sake of the families. Do you want all of your financial details made public? That being said we do not give athletic scholarships and I have known many families that would not have been able to send their children to Trinity without the financial aid they received. We had a number of minority students who were not athletes when I was there and unless something dramatic has changed we still do.

Considering there isn't much in the way of a rural area anywhere near Louisville you are speaking out of a specific orifice that has no business spouting out information.

Since I too have engaged in hyperbole I probably out to further elucidate where I am going with this. My point is that your post contain needless venom direct at a group of kids who, themselves, only want a good education and athletic experience at a Catholic high school that promotes a Christian brotherhood.

Why doesn't our team leave the KHSAA to play a regional, national, international or intergalactic schedule? The reason is that the mission of Trinity High School is not football. Yes football is fun and gives those of us that love the sport something to post about ad nauseum on the internet anonymously, but it is not the greater mission of the school. Trinity's mission is "Our mission is to provide students with a superior high school education in a supportive atmosphere based upon Christian values in the Catholic tradition." Not sure about you, but I don't see football in there.

No offense to anyone intended. Suffice to say that football serves different purposes at different institutions, and leave it at that.

You think talent is just in the water at Highlands and Trinity or do they have programs that motivate and develop that talent. I know the Highlands kids work their tales off in the off season to make themselves better. (I'm sure several others do as well). They weren't all born with super football powers. I would argue that there may be more raw talent and athleticisms hanging in the halls of inner city schools. They just don't get the motivation and develpment they need.

No no no, it isn't that at all. See we have recruiting departments like a big D-I college program that fly all over the country to find the best athletes and then proceed to forge their birth certificates and educational records to show they are from near Louisville. DUH!! :p

Careful there...some may not see the sarcasm. You know what is posted on message boards is always true!

Lets see, is there a Highllands in 3A, no, a Trinity in 3A, no, a St. X in 3A, no, a co Cov Cath in 3A, no. Same with 5A. In fact, lets just have two classes, one for privates and independents and another for everybody else.

Ok then, send them to Grant County where half the population is addicted to Crystal Meth. I want to hear long term plan for building a Football Dynesty there!

Not to use Central as an example too much but......When Coach Scroggins took over at Central one of his first acts was to stop accepting excuses that Central being an inner city school cannot compete with the surburban schools. The whole attitude changed and kids who in the past would take advantage of JCPS's "quasi" open enrollment are staying near home and going to Central rather than getting bussed to the traditional power publics and they have been making the state championship quite regularily in the past several years. Last year (or was it the year berfore?) Central took St. X to the wire. Something that before Coach Scroggins would be been unimaginable.

Lets see, is there a Highllands in 3A, no, a Trinity in 3A, no, a St. X in 3A, no, a co Cov Cath in 3A, no. Same with 5A. In fact, lets just have two classes, one for privates and independents and another for everybody else.

Ah, the old "If you can't beat 'em, banish 'em" line of thinking. Well done!

Let me ask you this, if the above were to happen, and the team you support didn't win a state title, what would you then blame it on?

In 1A, 2A, 4A and 6A there are only one or two legitimate contenders every year. Quite frankly, it's getting pretty boring. What would be your excuse for not being able to beat Trinity or St. X every year?

Not practicing hard enough.

So your claiming that half the population of Grant County is on Meth? :ohbrother::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Do you understand what Beechwood, CovCath, HHS, T and St. X all have in common more than sports? Think Academics!

With alll respect the Birds, your not exactly educatimg disadvantaged youth in Ft. Thomas.

Ok, are you serious with this stuff? My head hurts trying to figure it out. ABC2, is that you?

Have you read all his/her post. Hurts doesn't it.

revenue and recruiting reach????? Are you serious??? Are we talking Trinity University or the high school in Louisville??? Does anyone else have an issue with this statement? Yes, recruiting may happen, but for it to really be a concern for a high school program is a joke in itself.

First thing that came to mind. People just drive me crazy sometimes with this stuff.
