Wow!! Big win for the Breds..Congrats!!

Bartels is simply one very good pitcher. Congrats to NCC! Absolutely loving that NKY now has two teams in the Final 8 !!!

I read that Hightchew scored 2 of New Cath's 3 runs. Dude is clutch.

Indeed he did. Walked to start the game followed by a pangallo (?) walk. Then a triple over the center fielder by the SS #10 scored them both. Later on Hightchew was on first when a catchers interference was called to put #10 on first and move Hightchew to second. I believe it was Miller who then hit a single to CF to score the run, although had the throw not took a gratuitous bounce off the pitchers rubber Hightchew more than likely been put out at the plate.

Bartels goes 7 complete throwing 117 pitches by my book, 8 K's 1 walk and 1 HBP but only gives up 2 runs of which only 1 was earned,

True star of the game for NCC was Woltermann who tripled home 2 runs in the top of the 1st with two men on, who both got on via walks.

BTW Hightchew walked twice in scoring two of the three runs as the PRP pitcher Johnson was indeed tough after that 1st inning as he struck out 11 Breds last night.

Congrats to both Bishop Brossart and Newport Central Catholic for bringing home 1st round victories to NKy, the home of some pretty darn good baseball teams, that nobody else in the Commonwealth knows about!

Keep winning guys!

Note: Johnson struck out 12 not 11 last night! The young man indeed, can bring it!

Congrats to the Breds. Iam sure some non NKY baseball fans will say "didnt see this one coming" or "what a shocker".

I say "no big surprise" here because NewCath is just good and deep at pitching.

Hightchew is clutch is dead on imo as well. He is one of the those kids that a coach doesnt even have to say anything to, all the coach has to do is look at him and the kid knows what to do for the team.

Brady gives swagger some swagger, his confidence is always full, he knows how to send messages to the opposing teams by not saying anything at all. Some think his style of play is a little too spicy and arrogant. Of course those are the teams and folks he is driving nuts with walking twice and scoring twice.

I love the way the kid plays and acts. I will take all the Bradys I can get on my teams all day long regardless of the sport. :thumb:

Good Luck Breds.

Congratulations. Nice win for the Breds. Who is up next? Good luck.

Dead on Sweeperboy!

I agree, 100% with your assessment!

Bartels has to be close to being star of the game though, I would think. Kid shut down one of the top ranked teams in the state (and I believe the 2nd or 3rd highest ranked team in the tournament) and apparently threw pitch for pitch with PRP's ace. I would say he will enter the 2013 season as the top pitcher in NKY.
