Harrison Co.had men on 2nd and 3rd no outs. Hit a shallow fly ball to center for one out. Then Brossart walks next man to load bases.Next batter hits ball to short who throws home for second out. Next batter bends knee in towards plate as the pitch hits the dirt and hits him in the leg and the ump does not give him first base which was the right call.Now the batter is still hitting so he could have gotten a hit or hit the ball somewhere and Brossart could have made an error or something else but Brossart did catch batters pop up to first to end the game.So ump did not cost Harrison Co. the game. Harrison just did not get hits when they needed them. By the way Harrison Co. fans should be ashamed by the way they acted after the game, show alittle class.

 

Agree. I'm not sure I've ever seen a game in which a single play decided the outcome. There are numerous plays in every game that decide who wins and loses - plays that weren't made that should have been, a great plays that saves a run from scoring, failure to get hits at key times, putting free runners on base via walks/errors, throwing an 0-2 pitch needlessly down the middle that gets crushed, and even an occasional bad umpire call. It's always a combination of things, and rarely - if ever - one call/play that determines the end result.

I think its safe to say we see who is the cov cath of the 10th region. You got beat these umps are human and it happens so fast you cannot make every call right. You can go online and take the test to be a umpire if its that easy and you can get paid to watch the game. How many threads in this post season have people complained about the umps, ITS CRAZY people its part of the game learn from it, don't cry about it, and just move on.

I heard it got really heated after the game. I do know Mac made some comments on the post game radio show that were not real positive about the entire crew.

I was told last night that Mac was going to retire after this season but I'm sure that he may have changed his mind after the way Harrison County got hosed. No disrespect to Brossart because they have a very good team and should be proud of the season they have had. I will be cheering them on next in the State Tournament. If he had been coaching in Montgomery County and cursed the way he did last night he would have got pink slipped and lost his job.

The interpretation that I have received from roughly 10 umpires from the 9th region is that the batter can stand there as long as they do not move into the pitch thus "permitting the ball to touch them."

Correct on the ruling......If the batter would have swung and hit the ball after it hit the ground it would have been in play.

 

Wasn't there, no dog in teh fight.....so the ruling had to be he didn't make an attempt get out of the way if he wasn't awarded first after being HBP..

I too would have liked to see Mac after the game. He has gotten more than his share of calls over the years because of his complaining to the umpires whether they were right or wrong. Maybe it is time to retire. :lol:

So Harrison Co. never loses they just get hosed on calls that don't go the way they want them too. Call was the right one but is not always called by umpires.If you have ever watch a game that Harrison Co. plays at home you will see that they get a lot of home calls.This umpire was not going to get bullied by Harrison Co coach like some do when doing games at Harrison. I thought umpires did a good job at the games I saw, they were consistent and that is all you can ask for as a player.To bad Harrison was not playing at home they may have bullied their way into a win

Congrats to Brossart on the big win. I like to see David come out on top of Goliath every now and then.
