After reading all this stuff from the last two days,all I can say is....what goes around.......comes around!!!! I've been a coach in the 10th region for 13 years,and if the regional tournament would have been played at Harrison County.....they probably get that call,and win the region. A little something called "home cooking", that I've seen at Harrison County. Not complaining,just the way it happens sometimes on their field. It is.....what it is!!! So Harrison fans complaining about this is kind of funny. I understand their passion.It is a great program!!!

Coach Whitaker is a great coach,no doubt. First class program!!!!! But after all the complaining,and bitching,I have one question?

Why wasn't Jared Martin pitching?

I think most people assumed he would pitch. I talked to his dad at their semi-final game and he said that as long as his arm felt okay, he would be on the mound. Obviously his arm didn't feel okay, but the plan was to pitch him against Brossart.

Sorry for not getting my Martins straight.......lol!!! My fault. Great baseball family!!! Thanks for helping me out.

Bottom line.....if your hurt,your hurt!!!! I know coach Mac would never put one of his players in a position to

hurt his team,or himself.

Then 10 umpires from the 9th region are WRONG. You have to "make an attempt" to avoid being hit, "make an attempt" being subjective in the eyes of the umpire!!

 

I wasn't at the BB/HC game and don't have a dog in the fight. But I find this an interesting thread, especially since its funny to hear this umpire perspective reported in the thread. I was at a game recently where the batter made no attempt to avoid a HBP and was awarded first base. The opposing coach approached the plate umpire to plead the case that the batter needs to make an attempt to avoid being hit. The plate umpire stated "The rule says the batter shall not permit a pitched ball to touch him but that the batter doesn't have to make an attempt to avoid being hit." WHAT?? I mean come on, how is there any logic in a statement like that?
