May 31, 201214 yr Proof of US Citizenship should be required to register to vote, but not to vote. To vote, you should only have to show your identification and sign the rolls when you arrive at the polling place.
May 31, 201214 yr Att. General says voting rights under fire. As if to underscore the point, however, a voting rights group is worried that Holder and the Justice Department aren’t acting quickly enough to stop Florida’s Republican governor from continuing a purge of registered voters from the state’s rolls because they lack proof of U.S. citizenship.* Uh, shouldn't you have to be a U.S. citizen to vote, is Holder even allowed to basically go out and do this. Will he go and do the same thing for white churches? Is this a form of racism on his part and the White House for letting him do it. Holder is supposed to uphold the law, not campaign for more votes. Holder to black leaders: 'Sacred' right to vote under attack - POLITICO.com Do you recall certain problems in Florida in 2000 when some voters were turned away at the polls because they had been mistakenly purged due to a similar name of a convicted felons or others? I'm not saying this is the same, but Florida has been a problem area before.
May 31, 201214 yr Author Proof of US Citizenship should be required to register to vote, but not to vote. But if it was that easy then I am sure fraud would still run rampant with fake id.
June 1, 201214 yr I agree 100%. But if it was that easy then I am sure fraud would still run rampant with fake id. I made the statement since that is what is required at my polling place. June 1, 201214 yr The article mentions minority voter registration being down. Is the deadline 30 days before the election or am I thinking of something else?
June 1, 201214 yr The right to vote isn't under attack. You should have to show proof you are a citizen,we can't just let every single person show up to vote. The Obama Administration is wrong on trying to allow everyone to vote, I'll be glad to show my proof of citizenship. A serious question for MR. Were you asked to show proof of citizenship when you registered to vote? I wasn't. Should I be purged from the voting rolls? That is what is happening in Florida. People are being purged and have to schedule a hearing before they can be put back on. The fact that a very high percentage are likely Democratic voters has nothing to do with it.
