Villa Madonna 2012/2013

Punt, no offense taken(or there shouldn't be). It's a fair question and one I'm sure they considered. In talking to some people there they look at it as having a basketball season to get the kid to consider VMA. Longshot from what I understand but I get their thinking.

Coach may be thinking he gives them a chance to compete for the district THIS season. Hard to tell seniors on VMA that they can't play with a kid who can help them in favor of a lesser kid who they know will be staying.

I see the thinking of get him in and he MIGHT come here, but how realistic is that thought? If bball is his main sport, which I think it is, wouldn't it be a no brainier to attend CCH? The difference in schedule, as well as coaching, not knocking the coaching at Villa, but I love the way coach R coaches and think it would be more beneficial for him to attend CCH.

This is no knock on Cole, he is a good player with potential and a great kid, but he has to look out for himself, having said that, Villa has to look out for their best interests as well. How would one like to be a player getting less playing time, or no PT because of Cole playing at Villa this year? It's not cheap to attend Villa so I would assume that the parents of some Villa players will not take this well either.

Will he be playing for Blessed Sac. this year too?

If Blessed Sac plays in the NKMSL, then he could not do both. There is a rule that if you play for a high school then you can't play in the NKMSL.

High school sports should be for kids at the High School.

I would be surprised if he would. High school b-ball is a 6-day-a-week gig now.

I'm pretty sure that Blessed Sacrament is not in the NKMSL. They have been in past years. But they have had difficulty fielding the 6 teams necessary to participate in that league.

That is too bad. NKMSL offers very good competition for the most part. Pretty well run also.

Soph Eric Baugh was a big part of their JV team last year. I have always enjoyed watching him play. He is finishing up an amazing cross country season right now. Great kid and nice family, too.

Here is the rule: 7. Any player that participates for any reason at the high school level in basketball is automatically ineligible for the NKMSAA regular season league games, as well as NKMSAA post-season tournament.

That's a shame. Nothing like leaving your grade school buddies to go play with a bunch of kids you will only be with for one year.

Just an FYI:

Villa's numbers are about what they have been for the last 5-7 years (180 kids in the high school, although we have 51 in the senior class).

We have a no-cut policy for all sports so if a kid wants to be a part of a team they are a part. Doesn't guarantee playing time, but does guarantee being a part of a team.

I heard from a parent of a player that Villa's #s are way down this year also. So low that they may not be able to field a varsity team. Hope that's not the case.

Not the case. We don't have a lot of sophomores playing, but a good chunk in the senior and junior classes and a a handful of freshmen. I know we may even have a freshman team, but not sure...
