Methodists Maintain Homosexual Acts Are 'Incompatible With Christian Teaching'

I'll pose the same question i did this morning:

You eat a meal with 8,000 calories but your activities burnt off 7,500 are you a glutton like a person who ate 8,000 calories but activities burnt off 2,000?

Yes,It's all about moderation!

But the persons job/lifestyles calls for them to consume that many calories to be able to accomplish what they are doing?

Many of us talk a good game on here and out in the world about "we're all sinners - all sins are bad - who am I to say" yet either publicly, privately, or just in their head on Sunday morning say "at least I'm not doing a dude."

But the persons job/lifestyles calls for them to consume that many calories to be able to accomplish what they are doing?

What does the bible say?

What does the bible say?

That is what we are studying and at this time I cannot tell you.

What really makes this hard is when Jesus says if you hate in ypur heart that you are just like a murderer.

You lust in your heart and you are just like the person who really did have the affair.

To live a Christlike life is impossible. To be perfect and sinless.

And that is the exact reason why Jesus HAD to come to Earth and be a sacrifice for us.

Our inability to be sinless leads to us being labeled hypocrits as well as our poor handling of issues and really being hypocrits at times.

Sabbath day starts I think on Friday nite thru saturday. It is still a practice for the Jewish people today. (I remember Sandy Kofax couldn't pitch on Jewish holidays) Most of us on here are not Jewish. On the Sabbath day, you barely did anything. Its part of the Old Law which we are no longer under. Hebrews 10:1 Galatians 3:27 Jesus quoted 9 of the Big 10 which we are still under because he said so, he did not mentioned the Sabbath Day.

When I was under 10 all stores were closed, shut down, nothing. You got gas and food on saturday. This was 1963. K-Mart was one of the first stores to open on a sunday. Its like the Andy show where the out of towner needed his car repaired on a Sunday. Wally never opened on a Sunday and the man needed to take a break and wait.

Put a knife to your throat if given to gluttony.

That's the verse, almost word-for-word. Not sure exactly where it's found, and I'm too lazy to look it up now, but it sounds like Proverbs.

Admiral, I think, is right when he talks about moderation. But LBBC throws a wrench in it with the example. Obviously, needed calorie intake will vary with per person. So I would think each individual would need to be moderate. Gluttony for me might look different than gluttony for Adopted Admiral or LBBC. Make sense?

How can you know that? The "privately, or just in their head" part?

Sunday afternoon after mowing in this heat at end of school year, do not assume I have a functioning brain. :-)

My parents had rules when I was growing up. Irrelevant whether I agreed or disagreed, they were the rules.

God, who knows a lot more than my functioning brain can comprehend, has decided sins. It's His game and he gets to make the rules.

He knows what works best for the creatures He created. While my human pride and ego likes to creep in my mind and hint I would know better my life experiences have shown me that God knows better.

Once I have decided to follow His Son, than I chose to struggle to follow the life He laid out for me and stay away from sinning.

BUT I will knowingly fail miserably and I pray that Jesus sacrifice for me and you will be enough to cover my sins.

NICE!

I know people. The people that say it are not the only ones thinking it. They just do not have the filter that others do.

Do you dispute that people categorize sins ?

Categorize how? Venial and mortal? There are categorizations of sins.

Categorize how? Venial and mortal? There are categorizations of sins.

We're human. We rationalize. I'm not talking venial and mortal. I'm talking pure human rationalization.

Rationalize, as in "that sin is worse than mine"?

Correct especially when it comes to homosexuality.
