May 3, 201214 yr As far as Pakistan's sovereignty is concerned ... Pakistan hasn't exactly been ultra-cooperative in our search for bin Laden, as I understand it, so I have no problem with what we did.
May 3, 201214 yr Agreed, however Pakistan is a neccessary evil that we need as a "friend" in the region. Send them a couple billion and their feelings will be soothed. Take it out of the illegal aliens' child tax credits for kids not in this country.
May 4, 201214 yr Imagine the following scenario. During the Obama administration, intelligence is gained that OBL is at a specific location in Pakistan and has been for years. This information is verified and the administration contacts Pakistan for permission to enter the county to capture or kill Bin Laden. Pakistan agrees, but a leak occurs and Bin Laden escapes. Imagine the outrage of some Americans. It would be "proof" that: 1) Obama leaked the info so that Bin Laden could escape. 2) Obama is really a terrorist. 3) Obama is a Muslim.
May 4, 201214 yr LN, in answer to your question about how would we feel if China did something similar, here are my feelings. If China experienced a terror attack similar to ours and conducted a covert operation which did not harm any American citizen or people that weren't part of the terrorist group, I likely wouldn't have a problem with it. The first principal I ever worked for told me that sometimes the best course of action is to ask for forgiveness instead of permission. I think that this is one of those instances.

Well sure, just like W brought down the Twin Towers. There's nut jobs always waiting to pounce.
May 4, 201214 yr Well sure, just like W brought down the Twin Towers. There's nut jobs always waiting to pounce. Yes. But I don't remember that being a preconceived notion before President Bush was elected. President Obama hadn't even taken office and he was already being called a terrorist and a Muslim.
May 4, 201214 yr I think leatherneck has a very valid point. I'm glad we got OBL, but we did it "extralegally," and that's something I've been opposed to.

May 5, 201214 yr Yes. But I don't remember that being a preconceived notion before President Bush was elected. President Obama hadn't even taken office and he was already being called a terrorist and a Muslim. Then again, Obama just as many people acting as if he was the second coming and he was here to save us all. I don't remember seeing that kind of silliness in any previous elections. Hope I never see it again.

When you start your political career in the living room of a known terrorist as Obama did, it's easy to make that assumption..
