May 1, 201214 yr I agree I feel like Cozart, Phillips, Votto, Bruce, Hanigan/Mes, Rolen/Frazier, Stubbs, Ludwick/Heisey, Pitcher is the best lineup but we will probably never see it... Why would you ever want Hanigan batting #5?

He is a professional at bat...He its it to all field and doesn't swing for the fences every time like Ludwick, Stubbs and Heisey...Heck even Phillips is usually swinging for the fences, I have seen some ridiculous swings from all these guys...Phillips often times falls down to one knee he swings so hard...I feel Phillips tries even harder to hit the long ball when batting cleanup with guys on base, he is best suited batting 1st or 2nd...In my lineup I have Cozart, Phillips, Votto, Bruce meaning that #5 is going to have pretty good chances to knock in runs...Therefore I said Hanigan, Works the Count, Doesn't strike out a whole lot, Puts the ball in play meaning better chances of hits or RBIs from a SAC fly unlike the guys who try to hit the long ball and whiff most of the time...Hanigan hits it too all fields and I feel it's a waste to have him hit .280-.300 in the #8 spot while the other guys struggle to hit .230-250 in the #5 spot in RBI opportunities...

Exactly my point but it does depend on the situation. If it's late in the game and the game is tight and he could hurt them they certainly would pitch around him but if you can have the pitcher lead off that is ideal.
May 2, 201214 yr Any chance Robert Stephenson makes the rotation? I dont believe he has even pitched yet this year...With that being said he is talented and when he does begin to throw this year will maybe be in low A ball...2014 or 2015a seems like a likely scenario for his ML debut...
