Out of conference schedule

Featured Replies

There was a team that let it slip a month or so back that they are going to play UK this year, but I cannot remember who it was. There is too much money in home games for UK to schedule a bunch of road or neutral court non-conference games.

That's a lame excuse. Is cashing checks or hoisting banners more important?

Not too many big boys want to come to Rupp without a return of the favor and the big boosters don't like losing games in their season ticket package and Barnhart has to make them happy.

Apparently both :D

They have done both pretty well.:D
Big East/SEC challenge game.

I thought it would be Syracuse this season but it ended up being St. Johns.

I bet it will be St. John's at the Garden. I'm sure when the two leagues/ESPN build up the challenge schedule, Kentucky will be pushing to play in New York City.

Zero chance UK will get the same opponent next year...

A game up I75 would be the best thing you could hope for other than maybe a trip to the Carrier Dome. Would like to see Kentucky and UC hook up and maybe give enough reason to get a home and home going for at least a couple of years.

Is that a rule? I'm unaware as to how the whole challenge scheduling deal works for Big East/SEC.

I have never see Syracuse play an OOC outside the state of NY, so I assume it would be in either MSG or the Carrier Dome.

Unwritten rule. It isn't designed to create a home and home series...

It would be in the dome. No neutral sites...

When did that change? It may have been the case this past season and I just did not notice it. I know it was not the case before.

It changed last year when it went from 4 games to 12. UK played St Johns at Rupp...

Adequate in terms of results, but not in terms of my philosophy. I am an advocate of "anybody, any time, anywhere."

They played regular season OOC games against the national runner up, another Final Four team, a team that made the Elite Eight and a team that made the Sweet 16. They ended 3 of those teams seasons or they could have gone farther. How much tougher can it get?
