Did Boone County turn down the chance to play Conner over at UC's stadium?

Yes

I assume this would have to do with not wanting to give away a home game, correct?

September, 14th, y'all have to look me up.

Not just a home game, but one of the biggest home gate's of the year.

People inside the Boone program say that Conner was willing to make sure Boone got their money.

Please explain that in more detail? How could Boone get any more money by playing the game anywhere but Boone County High School?

Doesn't Boone have to share a portion of the gate with Conner (even when the game is at Boone)? I had heard that Conner was willing to give up all of their share if Boone was willing to play the game at UC. Can anyone confirm? Seems like it would have been great exposure for both teams.

When games are played as part of Crosstown events @ Nippert, each team gets same amount of gate. Conner offered to play and allow Boone to collect both team gate dollars. In fairness, the total income would still be less than a typical gate and concesion draw from a home game against an old cross town rival.

Not trying to pick a fight here, just looking for understanding. Why do you think playing at UC would be good exposeure for both teams? Do you think a casual football fan would watch this game at Nippert as opposed to Boone or Conner? Or do you mean that the kids get to play on a college campus, and maybe some college coaches will be there to watch Just wondering??...

It's always good for the kids and coaches to experience games at nice venues, out of state, etc. Most kids won't play big-time football after HS, and many HS coaches never get the opportunity to coach at a level higher than HS. I think its a win-win for all parties when these games happen. JMO

Agree with Coach RWN. Just think the kids would be excited to play in a BCS College Stadium on turf and get the exposure of the event. It is promoted quite a bit. I just don't think the Boone brass thought this one out very well. If it was a district game, I could understand Boone's decision a little better.

In other words Boone County made the best financial decision for Boone County?

Not trying to pick a fight with you, since your post is accurate.

But, Conner is giving up nothing with this offer. Conner was playing with house money in making the offer. Can't lose what you won't have anyway, and maybe you gain a nuetral site out of the deal.

Side note, if I were a casual fan living near these schools and doing nothing else, I'd be MUCH more likely to attend this game if it's played at the high school.
