In Anchorman, its like they tried to hard to make him funny, so he wasn't IMO.

I do think he was awful in Step Brothers. Everything was way too forced IMO.

Anchorman got much better for me the second and third time around. I didn't used to love it, but it grew on me. Count me in the group that's excited for #2.

Suddenly I feel like I'm in the minority for thinking it was outstanding the first time I watched it and not quite as good (but still great) in subsequent viewings. I wish I could go back and experience that first viewing in the theater all over again.

Awful. Ferrell does best in roles like Old School, Wedding Crashers, or Eastbound & Down where he isn't the lead.

That is how I pretty much have always felt. Always feels like he is trying to hard and over the top.

 

Elf he was also in a lead role. That movie has grown on me.
